<p>I am writing for several reasons. First of all, the timing is coincidental,
but certainly celebratory, in that one of our Wellesley sisters is aboard
the space shuttle just launched....</p>
<p>Below are some highlights relating to the incoming Wellesley class for
your information:</p>
<p>In what has been a record year, Wellesley received 4,466 applications. The
average SAT verbal and math scores of students in the enrolling class are
704 and 686, respectively. The average ACT score is 30. 38% of enrolling
students are ALANA, and 10% of students are intgernational. 12% of those
enrolling will be the first in their families to attend college, and
students with alumnae ties represent 11% of the entering class.</p>
<p>There were 755 interview requests this year. Of those interviewed, 682 applied for admission, 273
were admitted and 113 have enrolled.
