Someone and I?

Hello everybody! I am wondering if there are set rules on the subject "Someone and I" for the writing section. I've always been taught that I should use "Bob and I" instead of say "Bob and me", and it seems to be wrong according to the Blue Book (Pg. 784 #28) and (Pg. 847 #22).

when you are referring to the subject of the sentence, you use "I." If you are the indirect object pronoun, then you use "me."

EX- "Bob and I are going to the store." - "I" is the subject

"Jimmy lifted the can for Bob and me." - "Jimmy" is the subject.

^^ Exactly. Just look at what it's doing in the sentence. Its only "I" if it's acting as the subject.

If there are two names, you say "Bob and I went to the store." Not, "I and Bob went to the store."

Subject pronouns : I, we, you, he, she, it, they
Object pronouns: me, us, you, him, her, it, them

If you learn subject vs. object, you'll always know what to use.
