Someone help me find some colleges

I'm a senior
3.06 GPA
Top 1/2 of class
SAT: 700 Math, 660 CR, 580 Writing

Pretty Difficult Schedule, 2 AP's 1 Honors Junior Year, 4 AP's 1 Honors Senior Year.

I'm considering majors in Computer Science, Physics, Philosophy, or Political Science (pretty broad spectrum, I know).

Current choices for college: Rutgers, Villanova, Northeastern, Ramapo, Penn State.

Looking for 2-3 more schools, and I'm probably not going to apply to either Villanova or Northeastern considering they're both reaches.

I want to go to college somewhere in the tri-state area, or at least somewhere in the northeast, nothing south of virginia.

Please give me some more options. THanks.

umass? 10char

How about any of the 2nd tier smaller colleges in your geographic area?

What about Ursinius, Alleghenny, American and James Madison? Some may be slight reaches but they are all good solid schools. Your Sat score is very good and you may have a good chance with these schools. Good luck!

poi, I'm actually applying to Ursinus considering I recieved a free application via email. I'll look deeper into them and the other schools you mentioned. If anyone else has other options, please let me know.

I think with your stats you might want to look at University of Richmond.

Skate, I have heard a lot of positives about Ursinus and Allegheny. Also, one of my relatives lives near Ursinus and says that it is a very well respected school.

I like the Allegheny suggestion. Also look into Knox, Beloit, Clark, Denver, Union, and Rhodes.

Delaware, Maryland & Virginia Tech are all worth investigating.

College of New Jersey and Drew are both excellent schools that have comparatively less strict admission standards. I don't think you should rule out Northeastern if you're interested in their programs, you seem like a solid candidate for them.

Villanova is definitely a reach. Penn State could be a huge reach too. GPA is 2/3 of the admissions criteria....and they want around a 3.7.

I'd trade them for Ursinus, UMass, Allegheny, or Delaware. They seem like better fits. Northeastern could be a possibility though - it's not as selective as Villanova, and more forgiving than PSU.

This is my updated college list:
Rutgers
Northeastern
Ramapo
Montclair State
Ursinus
Penn State
NJIT(if i decide to major in CS)

I think that most of the colleges you guys are giving me are reaches, can someone provide some good matches, and maybe a few safeties?

ewww NJIT lol jk. um...Udel might be a choice, but honestly EVERYONE applies there from jersey I don't understand it. My friend from park ridge told me like so many kids out of her school are like OMGG I MUST GO THERE same with my school so many kids love it there.

URichmond might be a choice..

I'm pretty sure you'd getinto the the state schools with no real problem..since your M+CR is really good

Syracuse?

Your list sounds like a typical New Jersey kid's list, haha. Not that that's a bad thing, though.

I would suggest Drew University in Madison. They're a great liberal arts college that is often overlooked. NJIT seems kind of... I don't know.. random? My school had our graduation ceremony at Essex County College, and our Midnight Madness (Project Graduation?) at Rutgers. I don't know why I just told you that, but my point would be that Rutgers is a better option.

If you don't mind straying from New Jersey a little, I'd also suggest Allegheny, Susquehanna, Muhlenberg, and Dickinson. Perhaps even Connecticut College.

Richmond might be a reach, but I'd hate to discourage you from applying to a great school. I absolutely loved the campus and met some really laid-back people there. I remember them having a gorgeous lake smack in the middle of the site with a lovely view from the cafeteria. They have an amphitheater too, I believe.
