Something New Essay versus Short Takes, Formality?

This is my first CC post ever, but I was having a discussion with my friend from Yale about how formal the Short Takes for Yale should be?

I am applying RD this year, and some of my responses to the Short Takes (ex. What two qualities do you admire) are very simply worded, like "I admire ____ because ____ and _____ because ." or "I wish I was _ because ____."
My something new about yourself essay is more formal and eloquent, and so is the 500 character prompt about Why Yale.

I feel slightly ridiculous trying to reword my Short Takes into eloquent sentences with vivid verbs, since I am trying to answer these questions as honest as possible, as if someone asked me up front.

What did you guys do?

Mine don't have any vivid descriptions either, because they obviously take up so much room. They're all short and to the point in direct language.

Hahah the facebook answers really help.
Thanks!
