Son Received his Appointment

Hi all,

I wanted to introduce myself and my son Austin who has just received his appoitment from th USAFA. He spends hours following this site but has been shy about posting. So I am breaking the ice for him. He was recruited for tennis and will be playing for the team. We are from the Charlotte, NC area. We are very proud of his achievement. I know he would enjoy chatting with all of you. So please introduce yourself to Austin and maybe he will respond. I think this site is great for making friends before basic training begins.

Austin’s Proud Mom

Austin's Mom,

Congratulations to Austin and to your family! You have every reason to be proud.

Austin-Congrats on your appointment!! I too am a recruited athlete, but fortunately not for tennis...If they were to give me a racket, I would most likely injure everyone within a mile radius somehow...Anyways, come out and join the fun of CC! It's always good to add another 2010 RTB to the mix on here.

I'm up for making new friends...especially before basic. Congratulations on your acheivements (i know everyone says it, but it really is an accomplishment).

I'm in the wanna be athlete club...I'm going to try to walk onto the rifle team. I think I have a pretty good shot, no pun intended (just kidding...but seriously).

Hey, Austin! Congratulations!

I agree with K10.. making friends before basic is a good idea. I've met so many new people just because of USAFA and it's a great feeling.

See you this June!

Congrats, Austin.

We'll end up knowing each other very well in basics, so don't be shy man. Um...I love swimming, but I'm not sure if I should continue swimming for the Air Force. I've been swimming for...too long, and I'm considering trying other sports (like boxing). By the way, I was born in Raleigh NC, so good job.

Hey, someone who shares my name! You're automatically an awesome guy. :P

Anyways...congrats Austin, and see you on June 29th. RTB!

-Austin

10sMom...I know how you feel. These kids have truly earned their place at USAFA and their families should celebrate their hard work and accomplishment.

I agree. It helps to get to know some of the folks you will be spending the next four years with.

Austin just needs a screen name to get started. How about: "AustinPoweredbyAF". A little "punny" but not bad! ;)

Welcome to the family Austin and MOM! We found out of our son's Appointment in December. It doesn't make it any easier to see our "kids" leave home. Enjoy these last weeks with him.

As for Austin, Way to Go!!!! It's O.K. to see your Mom and Dad cry. Just hug them and tell them you Love them. They did a great job with you this far in your life. Now it's your turn to show them you are just as proud of them. You will not be alone. (If you have any siblings, don't under estimate
your relationship with them. They need to be reminded that you love them too.)

Congrats. Austin, just realize that once you get here you will need to be more independent, more assertive, and not as shy. Once you get here, you're on your own (as far as being removed from your family and life as you currently know it).

Thanks for the warm reception and encouragement. I have really enjoyed learning about the Academy from your very informative posts. I look forward to meeting all of the future and current cadets on this site this summer. (I WAS putting off posting on here, but now that I have I think I will enjoy and learn more from this site. Besides you guys all seem like great people. Thanks mom for giving me the push through the door.)

Welcome AF10s2010 (no relation to AFDAD2010 ;) )! make sure you add your name to the RTBlikeme list. And best of luck.

"Congrats. Austin, just realize that once you get here you will need to be more independent, more assertive, and not as shy. Once you get here, you're on your own (as far as being removed from your family and life as you currently know it)."

I would have to agree...I hope you can sound off....:)

10smom - just checking in with you to see how you are holding up. The last 41 days must seem like a blur! Don't forget, we are all in this together.
We may cross paths at Parents weekend.

CONGRATULATIONS AUSTIN!!!

After going through months of medical waivers, we thought, 3 weeks ago that it was all clear according to Athletic department. But admissions has been seeing "medically disqualified" all this time including last 3 wks. Finally, his paperwork got off of some lost desk and he has now been medically cleared in the eyes of admissions. So we will just now be recieving all the stuff you guys been getting for months. We are way behind and we will be leaving for vacation so it will be difficult. We have set up P.O. box where we will be. We have searched for as much info we could get to make sure we did what we could even though we had no paper work. Admission isn't to worried about it all so I am trying not to worry. I know it will all come together before BCT.

Thanks for asking lol

Austin! Bravo Zulu to you! :D
Welcome aboard (well, okay not on a ship, but an airplane...oh never mind, hehe)! Congrats! Man, we all are going to have an awesome time aren't we?
