Son received VIP Application-Can someone give us insight on this school?

Son received VIP Application-Can someone give us insight on this school? We are from California and never heard of it before, reviews have been mixed....

Try reading some of the topics that have already been posted. Unless you have specific questions, it’s very hard to answer this. Your son should go to the college that best fits his needs and wants.

GREAT school for Co-op and in the city. Faculty & students are extremely friendly and helpful!

Drexel is unique to every person. The school is really exciting. It’s campus is unique, as it is a growing school in the city, and the campus reflects this. It is in a city that constantly has stuff going on, and is tons of fun, so unless you really hate to leave your room, you will have a blast and you will never be bored.

As for the school, the academics are great. There is a huge variety in classes you can take and you really can build your plan of study. The professors are really friendly and if you take a chance, they’ll get to know you and go out of their way to help you.

There are quite a few problems with the school. If you are not granted any financial aid, you will not get anymore the next year, it’s school policy to not increase aid packages unless you have an incredibly outstanding situation. The school runs like any business would, they treat kids more like a number than a student and just want to get your money from you, but youll find this anywhere.

The coop program is great if you know what you want to study and are driven to finding a coop that will truly help you stand out.

The school will help you become well rounded, there are TONS of opportunities, and it’s also in the city which brings even more to the table, but it definitely comes with a high price tag.

Thanks Cait…great insight and very helpful.

Does anyone know if they give athletic scholarships?

They do, If you want one you’d do best to try to contact the coach directly and give him your childs information.

I worked for the wrestling team for almost 2 years and actually had to deal with most of the information coming in from recruits, so anything to get your sons information on their desks will help get him noticed.

That said, academic scholarships are limited, there are very few for each sport.

He e-mailed the coach when he received the VIP app but still has not received a response. My son looked at the roster and he has no doubt he as or more experienced…so we will see. He said he would e-mail again next week if he does not hear anything.

Thanks
