By far the saddest song I've ever heard is this:

Maggot Brain - Funkadelic

It's a 10 minute guitar solo which was recorded in one take. Supposedly George Clinton (of Funkadelic) told Eddie Hazel (Funkadelic's guitarist) to play like his mother just died, and he turned on the equipment. The really quiet arpeggios in the background were added later. If you haven't heard this (which I'm guessing is true for the vast majority of you), get it now.

blurry- puddle of mudd
sonny- new found glory
i'll be missin' you- p diddy
angel- sarah mclachlan
fields of gold- eva cassidy
here without you- 3 doors down
my december- linkin park
stand by me- ben e. king
streets of philadelphia- bruce springsteen.. mostly because it makes me think of the movie philadelphia which is so sad

fly away from here-dropline
goodbye to you-michelle branch
Still fighting it-ben folds
the scientist-coldplay
let it be-the beatles
stuck in a moment you can't get out of-U2
Closing time-semisonic
you belong to me-jason wade
forever-ben harper
wild world-cat stevens
long december-counting crows

good riddance-green day (overplayed, yes, but at the end of their concert...no words)
wonderwall-oasis (not really sure why)
punk rock princess- something corporate (go figure)
fix you- coldplay

Yeah, I'd say the vast majority of you have absolutely terrible taste in music. Hurt and Tuesday's Gone are good picks though - Tuesday's Gone especially if you've seen Prefontaine.

Iris, Slide, Acoustic #3, Black Balloon - Goo Goo Dolls
Lost Together, To Love Somebody - Blue Rodeo
Angel, I Will Remember You - Sarah McLachlan
Tears in Heaven - Eric Clapton
I Don't Want to Miss a Thing - Aerosmith

“I’m Not Gonna Cry” by Corey Smith makes me cry every time!
“Graduation (Friends Forever)” by Vitamin C makes me cry too.
“I Miss You” by Miley Cyrus is pretty sad.

always:
-Here Comes Goodbye - Rascal Flatts
-Temporary Home - Carrie Underwood
-There Goes My Life - Kenny Chesney
-Tonight I Wanna Cry - Keith Urban
sometimes:
-Letter To Me - Brad Paisley
-Fix You - Coldplay

“Someday You Will Be Loved”- Death Cab For Cutie, though it makes me tear up.
Some songs by Spiritualized. “Ladies and Gentlemen, We Are Floating in Outer Space” isn’t one of those.
A few songs by Muse can get emotional.

Untitled and CorteztheKiller, what songs make you believe that? Some people mentioned Cat Stevens, the Beatles, and Johnny Cash. What standards do you have?
