I apologize for making the post that is similar to the ones below. I am really confused right now and need an immediate help!! :((

I am sorry to post such a long, rambling questions but I cannot help it. Please Help! as I am going to submit the application tonight after reading the replies! ^:)^

Well, I am a type of person who get easily influenced by the overall mood of the campus. According to the posts in the past years, Batis and Northwood are not suitable for a great freshman experience. I want to avoid these dorms at all cost and I am not really into MLCs.

Can you give me some guidance on my housing options so I can have a higher chance of avoiding those two dorms?

I chose Group B - Group C - Group A in the order of my preference, and the co-ed corridor with the private bathroom being my first ranked preference.

I am confused about the bathroom preference mostly. There are three choices: Private bathroom (1-2 people), Non community bathroom (4-10), and community bathroom (10 - 60). Based on the research I have been doing, it seems like the non community bathroom increases the chance of getting into Baits.

What should I do here....? I am one of those who feel uncomfortable using community bathroom... What would be my best choices?

PS: I heard that if i request non substance building I will get into the hill dorms. Should I do that? Would it affect my social life at the college?

To avoid Baits you should list community bathroom and co-ed by room as your highest preferences, along with Central, then Hill, then North as your location preferences. If you pref a private bathroom you’ll be more likely to be put in Baits or Northwood. The community bathrooms are honestly fine, they’re cleaned every day. Also I wouldn’t pick substance free if you want to go out much. The people in those halls that I’ve meet have been pretty weird and judgmental.

Thank you. It was really helpful. @maizeandblue21

One more question!

Group B
2-room triple with private bath
NW III single in 3-person apartment
2-room quad with private bath

Group C
Double
Baits 2-room double with shared bath
Baits double with shared bath
Oxford 2-room quad
NW III double in 3-person apartment
NW III 2 occupants share one bedroom apartment

What are the main difference between these? In my understanding all of the listed things are on North Campus…

Oxford in Group C is not in North Campus and double can be anywhere too. These are rate groups, not by location.
Also, I think you don’t have the option to pick Hill/Central/North, but just specify North as first or second preference. I forgot the details as my D did that herself a couple weeks ago. Anyway, you will see that on the application.

Which one should I choose to maximize my chance of not getting into Baits or Northswood. I keep hearing bad stuff about these dorms… :((

Are you male or female? There is a girl only dorm in central campus.

Three dorms there are only for women, in fact, but getting into Martha Cook requires you to jump through a few more hoops.
