sooo...

who's going?!

I sent in my deposit a few weeks ago..finally got my email and such so i joined the loyola network on facebook, so exciting

my D will not be going … the money just wasn’t there. She is, however, very excited about going to TCNJ!
Good luck to all at Loyola…

I’m going. Anybody else in Honors?

It’s not letting me access my email. I’m not missing anything important, am I?

i’m not in honors, but i got onto my email after they sent me my username and all that stuff in the mail, and then just went on to loyola.edu and searching “email login” and went from there

Ooh, alright, that worked! I got some silly message about Microsoft overhauling the system when I tried to do it from the paper they mailed me.

I’m really excited! I joined the Facebook network, too; now it’s totally official.

Intermezzo-

Congrats on choosing Loyola! My son is at the end of his first year and LOVES it! He is in Honors housing in O’Connor Hall (Philo-Lodge) right now and will be in Ad Infinitum housing next year, which is a selective Honors housing for sophs. My boy did not join the Honors studies program due to his own delay in submitting paperwork. He is a math/science person and decided that he was glad he did not go with Honors as it is focused on humanities. If you are in the program headed by Dr. Miller, be prepared for a ton of reading and assignments. My boy was in the Alpha program and got a lot out of it.

My son is part of the Evergreen program which you will learn more about during your summer orientation. The Evergreens are sophs who will help you with your orientation and your first semester. Perhaps you’ll be in my boy’s group! In any case, congrats on Loyola and the Honors program. Be prepared to work and to play. There’s lots to do on campus and in Baltimore.

Hi again obxboy,

I see that your son was in the Alpha program this year. What did he think of it? Also, if you don’t apply for Honors in freshman year, can you still get into it in sophomore year?

I think you can get into Honors as soon as the second semester if there is room and the student’s grades are high enough. My son liked the Alpha program as it gave him extra access to his profs as he was learning the college experience. One of his Alpha profs turned out to be his academic advisor. Advisement has been helpful and regular. This might depend on the student, though. My son has always sought out after-class advise from his teachers.
