hey guys. i've been askign this to many ppl lately, but they all seem to say the difference stuff. simply, where is the best place to dorm as a soph, where you get the top priority. i actually prefer to stay in the union square area.

i am considering palladium, carylyle, coral etc.

any experiences, knowledge, photos will be helpful!

palladium:
+ better dorm facilities
+ common room w/ 3 seater sofa
- small bedrooms
- small closets
- no tub, just a shower (and it looks like a prison bathroom)

carlyle:
+ nicer decor & slightly larger rooms
+ tub in bathroom
- no common room (so it sucks if you get stuck in the room attached to the kitchen without a door)

coral:
+ mostly low cost
- small rooms
- rumors of mice

Pretty much all of them have downsides. The question is what's important to you? Cost? Room size? Common room? You can also consider 13th St, but I know nothing about that dorm.

there are mice in coral? hmmm i was considering it. i am wondering how low-cost there is different from regular coral. also, how do you get to chooose single room or not (just random chance?)

So assuming this model still holds, zangetsu, you'll get your best shot at the building, but chances are you'll get whatever rooms are left after the upperclassmen choose.

from what i understand, housing changes this year in that the lottery only decides when you go on to this new online system which chooses both hall and room, so you get to choose both at once...online.

What do they mean by Building/Room selection...
Do we actually have a choice which room in the physical building we live in? Or is it just the people with whom we live?

We do have a choice in the actual room, I read the res-ed housing guide , it says we get a lottery card, then we actually get to pick the room, online; from the "comfort of our own homes". Im pretty stoked, actually.

The issue also covers every uperclassman dorm and lists their pros and cons, respectively. It also has a map of where each of them are.
