Sophie Davis 2018 Interview

@FuturePCDoc thank you!

@sophie10000 having an sat of 1360+, an act of 27+, and an 85+ gpa, you should be fine. Although grades do matter, I think they cared a LOT more about what you wrote in your essays. Sophie has a particular mission, and someone with stellar grades who doesn’t have the personality they are looking for probably won’t be offered an interview. If you have sufficient grades that meet the requirements I stated and you really expressed your passion through your essays, I think you could have a chance.

Thank you @leah2017 that was rly rly helpful!!!

@sophie10000 I agree with leah at the fact that your essays play a really big part in whether you receive an interview. Why? Because anyone can have an excellent SAT/ACT score, anyone can take several AP classes, anyone can have a 4.0+ gpa. There are even some people I’ve seen who got a 1280 on their SAT and were accepted. But what makes you stand out and what makes you different is the way you can let your personality and your uniqueness shine through your essays. Sophie Davis gives you an OPPORTUNITY by giving 3 essays because you are given your ticket to shine among the 1000+ student who apply each year, and to make yourself look different than everyone else, even if your grades might not have been stellar. If you were able to really show and describe your passion for medicine, the reason why you want to become a doctor, and what makes YOU qualified to become a doctor (in the future) in your essays (like any special skills or lessons you learned in life), then you definitely have a chance at getting an interview.

And like leah said, the interview is just a way for the interviewers to know you as a person. Meaning, getting that interview basically gets you half-way there, and all you have left is to show them who you really are at heart

Rlly? Then what were your scores?

I wanted to compute the standard deviation of the scores to analyze the ratio of sat/act scores to students accepted and see if there was a general trend that I could follow which may lead me to an interview.

essays were decent but idk there are only 24 days left before decisions are made…

If they had 1000 apps /270 (30 students each for 90 days) interviewed / 70 accepted then what r the chances?

70/1000= .070—>7% acceptance rate

@sophie10000 well here’s where you’re wrong. They had over 2000 applicants and invited 200 for interviews. From there, they’ll be selectively picking out 70 applicants on average.

I’m willing to share my scores and EC’s if you guys share yours. But i don’t think it’s totally necessary but it won’t do any harm if I share my info.

@sophie10000 I think maybe that you’re worried too much about the “scores” aspect of your application. If you have at least a 1290 sat, at least a 26+ act, extracurriculars, (subject sats?) 85+ regents scores, good rec letters, and volunteer hours, you should be good academically. But what can save you if you DONT have a good sat/act score, and what distinguishes you from others whether you have high academics or low academics is your essays. You can’t really place a calculation or a standard number to represent Sophie’s requirements, because one thing I’ve learned for sure is that it is a very unpredictable school.

and by “good” academically, I mean that you hit the line for approximately the minimum, but I am not 100% sure of course; this judgement is based on my own experiences and understanding

@sophie10000 but i really do hope you get an interview though!!! You have until mid-March! keep hope

30 act 1370 sat

Share ur stats!

They continue interviews till the week before march 26th?

@sophie10000 your act and sat score is only a small fraction of your application…

and they conclude all interviews at the end of mid march. It’s definitely way earlier than much 26th since they still need time to discuss the applicants and form a decision.

Last year students said they had interview 1 week before admissions decision was released which was march 28th
