I know there's a Sophie Davis thread, but it seems to be sort of dead, and I wanted to ask specifically about the interviews. A couple things: does anyone know when they send out interview notifications/how many they interview out of how many applicants? And how many do they end up taking? Also, what are the interviews themselves like? I hear they're really difficult. Any information would be welcome :)

I'm applying as well but I doubt I'll get in my sat is barely the minimum lol. I think I heard there's 3 interviews each lasting an hour. Two with professors and one with a student. I think we start getting our notices mid jan.

At the open house they said 800 kids apply and 200 get called in for interviews. Once you get an interview, your grades don't matter anymore. In short everyone is equal and they don't really look back upon grades as a basis for admission. Several studenst told me you have to "sell yourself" at these interviews and it is VERY important. Out of the 200 I mentioned, 70 are accepted into the school. The interview itself can be anything really, but a good portion of the time will be about you and the 3 essays you wrote.

PS: Just so I can sleep tonight, did u send in all your materials yet? (I didn't) lol

Heh. My school sends everything, so I think all my stuff is sent, except for my outside LoR, which I'm not sure of. I'm going to call at the end of the week, though, because I'm just that paranoid. You have plenty of time still, so I wouldn't worry :)
What did you do about standardized test scores? I included unofficial printouts/photocopies and had official scores sent to the CUNY application processing center. I had no idea where to send the ACT scores - does Sophie have their own code or anything?
Thanks for the info. Wow, 200 out of 800 get interviews...-gets nervous- The more I see of sophie, the more I like it. I'm really hoping they like my stuff :)

You don't need any official score reports for either test yet. Just photocopies of them. I was talking to the dean himself and he told me this, but then I asked a bunch of people to make sure. I'm not sure sophie has their own code. I remember at the open house some offical said that if they need the offical score reports they'll contact you but for now....photocopies all the way.

Just out of curiosity, what high school do you go to?

you could send the ACT/SAT scores to UAPC (ACT Code: 2950, SAT: CUNY University Application Processing Center). I think you need to send your scored for the general CUNY app and this is the place where it needs to go.

I go to Stuyvesant. You?
Thanks for the test info. I was worried they'd need scores sent specifically to them - the directions on their website are really unclear, but I included photocopies, so I should be okay.

Yea, sophie directions are very unclear lol. I go to Archbishop Molloy. I'm sure you'll get into sophie lol, stuyvesant is really top notch lol. For some reason I lot of sophie kid and i mean ALOT are from brooklyn tech.

Yeah, stuy is good, but there's a lot of competition, because so many stuy kids apply to sophie, and I'm not a minority.

What do you think my chances for an interview are like? I think my essays were okay.

No doubt about it, you're going to get an interview. I have a friend with slightly lower stats than you and they said he's basically guaranteed an interview. All you have to worry about is selling yourself during the interview. I know geniuses who get interviews with their excellent stats, but due to their inept social skills, they get rejected.

Thanks; that makes me feel a lot better. Now to start fretting about the interview :)

hey, anyone have an interview yet? mines scheduled for tuesday! What kind of stuff do they ask?

hey! i have mine on wednesday afternoon! post back and tell us how it went please!

anyone who applied…

what questions do they ask during the interview??

Do I have a decent shot at getting an interview to Sophie Davis? Its been bugging me alot and I havent been able to find many stats on the average scores of those accepted.

also for SAT IIs: Math II 750

I am a student with 90 gpa and 1900 sat scores.
My aunt previously went to sophie davis so she would get me an interview. But would they only determine my admission on what they see there or would they aknowledge my grades too because i wasnt picked according to my merit but because my aunt got me to the interview.
Also has anyone recieved interview notifications yet? Is it by email?

Hi, i also would like to get an interview. Can you let me know exactly how my family memember can go and get an interview for me? And what exactly did your aunt say or do?
