are you sure? i am pretty sure that the program is for the metropolitan area which includes ny, nj and conneticut... but anyway how do my credentials look? i now need to improve my cr but i try an try but still get no where with it! but my math is really good, i think i can possibly get an 800 if i start doing a lot of math practicing from now on...

lets revive this thread! who applying?

hey i really need advice i attend a private school in brooklyn and my GPA is 98% and all ma regents including math A, math B, chemistry, Biology, are all above 95%....I even took Ap Bio and Ap calculus and scored a 4 on both...I just need to know who are the people who get accepted to the Sophie Davis Program and what they are really looking for id appreciiate it if i could get a reply from a person who was accepted to this program because i am graduating this year! and im in the process of applying so id appreciate if anyone would help! thnx!

I'm applying! Even though I have a feeling I'm probably not going to get in because I don't have any research experience :[

From what I've heard from people who got in and people who got rejected, Sophie really cares a lot about research experience. In Brooklyn Tech, anyways, some of my friends with similar grades, highish SAT scores (1900s-2000+), lots of APs, tons of EC's/internships/etc. got interviewed (&rejected) while others (with research experience) got in. Apparently, they also like people who show a LOT of dedication (like volunteering/working somewhere all throughout high school). I'm not really sure about how their essays were (since most of the people I asked didn't want to say anything about it), but a few of them said they though Sophie cared a lot about regents grades too. On the interview for one person, the interviewer asked why their regents grades were so low (in the mid to high 80s).

Anyways, so does anyone know if we need to send our SATI/II's/ACT scores to Sophie separately than to just CUNY Honors? I'm still not really clear about the whole sending scores things.. ._.

We send our scores to CCNY as well as CUNY. I'm applying, and I really hope I get in. Its my #1 choice

hey maj58 ill be applying for colleges this year can you giveme some inside tips sophie likes to look at? thnx

Hello class of 2009ers interested in Sophie; I'm a current first year I was admitted to Sophie Davis this year
Sophie Davis really loves too see applicants who are involved in community service; making an impact on their community whether it be in church, school, hometown etc.
You got to a strong academic background, there's doubt about that like doing well on regents, acts and sats
I suggest that you do well on your APs because some count as electives and classes at Sophie : )

I really want to go to Sophie!

FOR CURRENT STUDENTS:

Are there any professors who are good to do research with?
Are there any classes that are known as "easy" classes which offer easy 4.0's (any class)
Are there any classes that take the known as fun classes or good classes?

Thanks!

Chance me please.

please resond, i'll appreciate it.

When i read the application instruction letter, it tells us to report for testing. Does this mean that everyone needs to report for testing? Im not sure if this is required for everyone or just some people.

hmm......is sophie davis just looking for an ACT score?...or does the score itself play a big factor as well? Cus I called them up and they said that they were look for a score of 25+. But isnt a 25 sooooo incredibly easy to get? I got a 28...but im really considering retaking it next month. Should I?

Sophie Davis do take ACT and SAT scores into consideration but the other materials make the application package and no there is not a special preference whether the ACT test was done with them or outside of their administration...i know with regards of my graduating class (class of '13) there were a number of studenta that got in without taking the ACT with them....you received a 28 in that sitting.... in regards with my graduating class admissions were looking for 27's....my take is it wouldn't hurt for you to retake it with them...the 28 will be able to be sent to other colleges but the one you take at sophie stays with them so go ahead :-)

thank you SD13 for your response! :)

but im curious, is a 28 even considered good? Cus in my opinion, i think its a pretty crappy score :/ But many of the colleges I looked at are looking for a 28, or at least around that ballpark...

Sorry for my late response...finals started this week for me. The score isnt bad at all! Actually pretty good for a first sitting. If you took the exam "officially" the second time around and scored lower, you would have an issue. If you have SAT scores or ACT scores near the college mean and a strong EC, Volunteer, and Academic background; you have a strong chance of being considered by admissions to get an interview or even get into the dream school. Sophie Davis was not my first choice....an Ivy League school was at my top...but the point of the matter is my scored were within the desired range and my outside of school activities and academic record is what was a true measure of what type of student I was and I was granted interviews to about 80% of the schools i applied to (i applied to 11; 6 were ivy)...so please everyone considering Sophie Davis for their senior year (too late for '14) build up an excellent EC and volunteer background...do some science research or something because scores are only a part of the equation for admission....

This is my basic stat and I hope any current/former students can give me few hints on how to improve myself. I know, there is no "magical formula" to getting in, but I just want to hear from a student's opinion.
Note - I apologize if this was already mentioned. Can someone give any suggestion to the interview for SD? As in, what should I mention and what is their major questions. I know there are 3 interviwers, and one is a student, and one is a professor. is there a specific role for each? ANY tips on the interview would be grateful!

As you can see, my test taking skills are not great but I am a hard worker and I strive to excel at what I love. I am very active and I love to get out there and make something out of my life. I want to express this for my interview but I am a bit nervous and i do not know what to expect exactly. I love art and i want to become a doctor but I don't want SD do think I would not be capable of becoming a doctor because i devote my time to art. Can't a doctor have a passion for art as well? can't an artist be motivated to cure patients with her artistic hands? Can anyone help me on the interview? please please please?

do you think my app would be accepted if i send it in today... i know its a realy dumb question
