Satrocks, if u go on the Facebook page sophie davis class of 2018 accepted students, people answer questions about orientation.

Good question! What do we need to wear at the accepted student reception?

So there is the accepted students day coming up, an orientation for everyone that does accept in June, and a summer program for those willing to attend in August, those are all the events.

Go formal/ have a professional look, like no jeans and tshirts, and you should be fine. I went with slacks and polo shirt, that was good but not overdressed. Collar shirts work too, but dont wear a whole suit, or you can but be extensive.

Hmmm ok. Yes Insanemom, I checked out the facebook page, but if someone could provide an actual date for the orientation here or on the fb page that would be awesome!

If you guys havent gotten an date, then no one knows. Be patient, its far from now, and once everyone accepts the offer, you get all this information.

From what I remember it was around 3week of June, but you have plenty of time till then, just attend the accepted students day done by SD if you want to see a little of Sophie Davis, and there maybe you can ask if you really want to know ahead of time, but it makes no difference.

Relax, go enjoy senior year, those are some of the best times in your life.

Bigbajo, good advice! Looks like a couple of years into the program has really matured you. And thank you for taking time from your studies to answer questions and help future sophie students. A true mentor!

Bigbajo, thanks a lot for your response! And donât worry, I am definitely enjoying senior year!

I only ask because my family needs to book vacation flight tickets, and we are trying to work around any orientation day or anything lol.

Since I wonât be able to get the packet notarized and submitted till a few more days, I was wondering if anyone that has mailed in their forms has gotten a date back?

If not, I guess we will try to wing it lol. Anyways thanks a lot for all your help!

In your case then call the office tomorrow and ask, and give your reason. If that doesnât work, try emailing a Dean. I remember I skipped half of my 2nd orientation day for prom, so with a vacation excuse, donât think it should be a problem, so even if you get tickets that overlap, a vacation is a great experience both relaxing and a learning experiance from traveling.

First day orientation was getting around City stuff, and 2nd day was SD related things from I remember, but things that if you miss you can catch up and make up. To say the truth the first day wasnât worth the time we put in, and 2nd day looked cool but prom wasnât something worth missing.

Your welcome guys, mentoring is something I really enjoy so its worth the time. Have a good night.

Yes, I am probably going to have to call again or try emailing a Dean. Thanks!

Do you know how city students have the email @ccny.cuny.edu. Do Sophie students get @med.cuny.edu? And when would we get these email addresses? Thanks!

No, we have the citymail.cuny.edu email address, same as city kids. Its just an email, and well you will learn about it during orientation how to claim yours, doubt they made it yet for new students, but after everyone accepts offers, and class is finalized, then you will hear about it and be able to set up yours.

Does anyone know when we are supposed to get financial aid packets from ccny?

Bump^^^^^^

I think I got it around this time but it depends on when you submitted FAFSA information. I did it really early that year, and knew from EFC(estimated family contribution) - how much I was going to get from financial aid and other scholarships. If this is important in making your decision, call up the financial aid office and ask if they have any information. They usually have information on your file.

Actually I got it around May I think, not April, but had an idea from EFC about fafsa and tap aid, but you can still call ccny financial aid office and ask.

Bigbajo, can I guesstimate that heâll get the same TAP as he got from other schools in NY?

I want to say yes but canât be 100% sure, let me say I got the same thing. just call and ask if a big concern.

Thanks. Heâs accepting either way. It might make a difference if he dorms or not.

Same here. I will only Dorm if I get enough financial aid.

Well TAP is by State not school, so it should be the same across all schools and so should pell grant (fafsa) in that case, because that is federal.
