Sopho transfer or Junior transfer?

Alright CC geniuses. I need some help please.

I was wondering which has better chance? Sopho transfer or Junior transfer?
Also, is it possible for a current sopho to transfer as a sopho? To clarify, I was wondering if I can repeat my sophomore year in college just like you will in high school.

thanks and please help!

Bump bump bump

Usually the Junior transfer since they have more credits.

And to answer your other question, no. Your year isn’t determined by what you apply for, it’s determined by your credits. If you’re currently a sophomore (and presumably doing well enough to transfer), you will transfer with 60 credits, making you a junior when you transfer. Some schools are more lenient about spending more time to complete your degree, so theoretically you could still spend three years at your new school, but this varies by school so you’ll need to look into it first.

top schools rather have you transfer as a sophomore…
think about it…if you transfer in your second year…you have have more time to take advantage of all school for a longer time, take more top classes, have time to finish prerequisites so you can take upper level classes when the time comes…this rule only applies to community college transfers or its equivalent( local state schools)

but say if you transfer from an equally top school, you can transfer in as a junior
every admissions comity i have spoken to have told me that they always prefer a sophomore over a junior, so this way you have time to mold them…this is always true with top schools…you should let us know which school you are willing to transfer from and which school you have your eyes laid upon… “GENIUS”

Hey thanks guys for your help.

Haha yeah… So im trying to transfer away from GWU.
i will be a sophomore this fall. i have a 4.0 GPA and 680CR / 770M / 740W wich I took in HS. I went to a fairly prestigious prep school called Choate Rosemary Hall with 3.7 gpa but had to choose GW over Princeton because of financial aid.

However, finance is no longer a issue for me and i think im going to shoot for columbia, dartmouth, upenn, brown, vanderbilt, and gtown.

Let me know what you think (if I have a chance or not). also, is it possible to choose not to transfer credits so i can transfer as a sopho? I really would love to spend three years at my new school… Assuming i get in.

Thanks for your help!!! Much appreciated.

dame, you got into Princeton, man you should have thought the tuition for princeton as an investment man…( but from now on you don’t have to worry about your before college academics)

i don’t know about starting a sophomore by removing credits, that question is only appropriate if directed towards the admissions people at each institutes,

or you can try spring transfer, that way its going to give you 2 and a half years
3 is always better than 2…wink

and by the way i thought princeton made sure u get all the aid you need

^^Yes, IF you qualify for need based FA.

So, I’m assuming you got merit aid at GWU, because there’s no way their need based FA tops P.

@ jasonbourne

Yeahh im an international student so financial aid is extremely limited.
I guess i should call each schools and ask and should definitely consider spring transfer haha thanks for your help!

^^So what merit scholarships does GWU give to Intl students?
