I am in an unusual situation, and I wonder if anyone has ever heard of anything like this from UCLA.
I applied for UCLA for the Fall term, 2009, as a freshman, and was rejected. I subsequently submitted a letter of appeal, complete with one letter of recommendation, in the first week of April.
Last Monday, I was notified that UCLA had sent a letter to me regarding their decision, which I recieved Friday.
The letter stated that they were pleased to offer me admission to UCLA for the Fall Quarter 2010 to the College of Letters and Sciences as a Biology major (the major I indicated on my application) if I complete the following provisions:

Complete a UC application for the Fall 2010 and pay the application fee.

Complete 30 semester hours (45 quarter units) worth of UC transferable coursework during the 2009-2010 academic year. They state that this work can be completed at a community college.

I called and verified that this wasn't a mistake, and I'm very excited. Has anyone ever heard of a comprable situation?
