Sophomore, very unsure of major/career

I’m now a sophomore at W&L. I’m thinking about either majoring in Econ or Math, I originally thought both but now I think that’d be hard to do and I wouldn’t be able to take many other classes in other areas. I took Econ 101 and 102 last year, and I find it interesting to an extent but I sometimes have a hard time seeing myself major in it, I’m just not that enthusiastic about it. I do well in math and I’m taking Multivariable this fall, but I’m worried being just a math major wouldn’t be good in the long run. If I did Econ, I could be a math minor, but there’s not Econ minor here if I were a math major.

Really, I like learning about a lot of things, but I don’t really like any of them enough to major in them. I am a big music guy, and I like French too so I’ve considered those as minors. Even though I like math, I’m a very creative person as well, so I feel conflicted sometimes on whether I am cheating myself out by studying one thing as opposed to another. I know that I don’t need a degree from the Williams School to be successful, I just don’t know what else to major in. I haven’t taken enough classes in things like History or Anthro to know if I’d want to major in them.

As far as potential careers, I’m stuck on that too. I have a lot of ideas but can’t narrow them down. I like math a lot, but I don’t really know if I want to use it in my career, it just looks good. I am a part of the radio station here, so working in radio/media marketing/business would be pretty cool. I am thinking about going to business school potentially, maybe for finance or marketing (marketing seems like it could be more creative at times). I like graphic design and the idea of web development, which I know is a growing field, and I’m interested in taking some coding classes either here or during the summer.

I’m not opposed to going back for more school once I graduate from here, and taking time to figure myself out. I’m definitely going to go to career development this fall at some point to try and seek some help.

Any advice appreciated. Thanks
