Sophomore Year Help

Hi, I am currently a Sophmore at my school and these are the following classes I am currently taking:

French 3 H
RBA H
USH 1 H
English H
Precalc H
Chem H
AP Com Sci

Right now I feel comfortable for some of the classes but feel stressed out in the others.

French 3 has been the most stressful for me because instead of using the same series I have used for the last two years “Discovering French”, we will now be majorly using “Bien Dit.” This is throwing me off because I don’t understand a lot of the directions or the different vocabulary and style. This is rather unfortunate because I can’t participate (raise hand and get picked) in class as much and that is weighted 30% of the grade. Also, since we are also borrowing some content from the other book, it is unclear to how the assessments will be. How can I resolve this issue?

Completely aside to that, I am not trying to sound like the stereotypical college confidential user but I can’t afford to lower my grade as I am rank 4 and have a 100 gpa. The 1st ranked person is also in that French class and he can distance himself further.

AP Computer Science is the other one that I am a little confused on; I have had a little background in computer science but I don’t understand the structure of OOP yet and how to apply the concepts in the book to actual coding.

If you could give me any advice, that would be greatly appreciated!

To be honest, I was actually glad when my daughter with previous straight A’s finally got a B+ (on an interim progress report), since it allowed her to learn that when you are not perfect, life still goes on and you are still fine. You too will discover at some point that you can be less than perfect and life will still go on and you will still be fine and will still do well. You will not keep up a 100 average through high school, and yet you will still do very well.

Learning a non-native language can be helped a bit by tutoring, and by watching TV shows or movies in the language. If there are other students who are good in French, try getting together at lunch in school one or two days per week and having a “déjeuner français”, where you attempt to only speak French during your lunch break. You can of course use google translate if there are specific instructions in French that you don’t understand.

Bonne Chance.
