Hello all!
The start of school is drawing near, and I’m slightly nervous, slightly excited. I was wondering if anyone had general tips for the sophomore year of high school, and if anyone could give specific tips on how to survive the courses I’m taking. Also, I’ll be taking the SAT II Math 2 test this fall (November). Has anyone here taken it? How did you study and how did you do?
So my schedule this year should look like this:
English 2 honors
AP Calc AB
AP World History
Physics honors
Orchestra
Chorus
Computer tech IT/ AP Music Theory (when I checked my schedule recently, I had music theory instead of the CompTech class I wanted… I’m hoping to get the switch, but I might be stuck in music theory)
So any tips? Thank you in advanced for any responses!!
You are missing a foreign language?
@mathyone Oops, forgot to mention that, I’ll be taking Spanish 3 honors online since all the Spanish teacher at my school suck
Use prep books whenever you’re stuck on a lesson - I’ve heard Crash Course and Ethel Wood are good for APWH. Focus on studying for SAT II for the most part until November. Always ask questions if you’re confused, especially in math and science courses.
Your academics look good. I would suggest getting involved or continuing to be involved in extracurriculars. Try new things if you haven’t yet. Towards the end of sophomore year start thinking about what TYPE of college you would want to go to (don’t have to make a list yet)- just think about size, type, etc. Maybe visit a few different types to see what you would like.
Over the summer (next summer) you can begin prepping for the SAT or the ACT, whichever one you are taking.
@pinklinks I’ll keep that in mind, thank you for the suggestion!
@yonceonhismouth I’m planning on exploring more extracurriculars than I did last year. Thank you!
Anyone else?
