In addition to my grades I am bi-lingual (Russian) was on the basketball and swim team,

So I'm in my sophomore year of High School and my goal is to get into a UC.
These where my classes Freshman Year:

Biology: B 1st semester A 2nd semester
Intro to Engineering: A both semesters
English Honors: A 1st semester B 2nd semester

I just finished my 1st semester of sophomore year and I didn't do well:

Is there anyway I can get into a good UC (such as Santa Barbra or San Diego) if I do better 2nd semester and in junior and senior year?

Thank you so much for your time!!!

Cлишком рано… (I’m also Russian)

Honestly, it’s a bit too early to worry about college, but it’s good to see you’re trying. Your GPA, if your school goes off of a standard 4.0 scale, is a 3.5. Not horrible, but mediocre. I suggest applying for AP classes next year (if you decide to take the loss in Pre-Calc, I’d advise Calc AB, Stats, APUSH, and either English Lang/Lit). If you do well in these classes, and get 2000/30+ on your SAT/ACT (study for them now, take them fall of junior year, spring of junior year, and then fall of senior year if necesary), you’d be able to get into the top tier of UC schools. Would be even better if you’re recruited.

Spaseba(: this helped a lot
