Sororities and Frats

How do we register to be in rush week and all that stuff? And is being in a one a good idea your first year?

I've heard frats and soroities are really popular, and great ways to meet people. Also joining is good on your apps for grad school since it shows involvement at your school. According to a flyer I have from advising go to:
ucdpanhellenic.com

lol are you kidding me, most frats just get drunk. It shows drinking involvement but there are other better ways to get involved at UCD without paying money to some Greek letters to make friends. Join frats if you want, but that's not the only way nor the best way to meet people.

work hard play hard.... and yes greeks do lots of community service. it is a good thing to do.

you can work hard, and still play hard without touching other men's genitals and shelling out money to join a frat. There are also community service clubs.

dont' dis on the brotherhood dude, lifelong friends, service and good fun. don't generalize so much too.

Haha, ilikeoranges is speaking like a typical partier. I agree with you dude, all we see as an outside party is how frats just mess up their house every weekend partying and doing greek stuff. For most frats thats the case, but after having friends join the professional frats and sororities(like medical, business, etc) Ive come to understand not all frats are the same. Those ones do a lot of community service and are focused around having a good solid group of lifelong friends.

Im not patronizing frats or anything, Im personally not a part of one, Im just saying if you really want to join a group for the social and community aspect go for the professional frats. But hey, theres nothing wrong with joining a regular frat to drink and throw parties(as long as you invite me ;) ).
