Sororities?

Is it a good idea to join a sorority at BU? I heard a lot of bad things about sororities, but are there any pros?

BU has a frat row behind Super 88. To tell you the truth i had an unpleasant experience when i went to BU with frats especially in the area of Super 88. I am asian and have gotten racial remarks and almost felt like i was unwelcome in that area. This is personal experience though.

sororities can be fun, they’re just not popular because it is so easy to make friends at BU that most girls don’t think it’s worth it to pay $500 a semester in dues to make new ones. my roommate from soph year joined DG and liked it, and i know some girls in AE and alpha phi and gamma phi beta and they seem to like it. it just wasnt for me, especially since i prefer guys as friends than girls.

I think BU sororities are different from the stereotypical ones though. We’re not a huge greek life school, so the people who join are those who are really into it and aren’t just joining because it’s the only way to make friends. I know a few girls in it who love it. There also aren’t any sorority houses, so it’s definitely more of a social/philanthropy club than a way to get invited to parties or something.
