I have never really thought about being in a sorority. I recently started looking into it, and found that I might actually be interested in rushing. Can anyone tell me more about UCF sorority life? I looked at all of the websites, but they are all generic information. I want the real stuff :) lol

i know someone who’s in one and they absolutely love it! it definitely can take up a lot of time but not all meetings are mandatory. they do a LOT of fun activities to bring everyone closer together so it’s a great chance to make friends your freshman year. they have all these themed socials that look so fun! they also take trips to the beach and go downtown a lot. one should know, it comes with a price. they’re around 3,000 a year. personally i think it is worth it because of all the activities that are planned out for you and the life long friends you’ll make.

how do you join one though ? you have to move in early too …

this is how rush goes–
each day up until bid day you go around and visit each house. the days also get more formal as they go by. the first day is usually just meeting all the girls from every house and talking with them. then you make a list of which houses you like best and eliminate a few. the chapters also choose if they want to invite you back or not. the second day you visit the chapters who invited you back and you usually learn about their philanthropy and get to know the girls better. then you narrow down your list again. the next day is usually preference day. you go to about 2-3 parties and get to know the girls more. then at the end of the day you rank them. that night or the next day is bid day where you find out if you got a bid from the houses you chose.

how does all this happen though. lol I understand what you’re saying , but how and when lol sorry

don’t be sorry haha! it’s like a week before classes begin (you have to sign up for early move in) and you have to send in a form or something with your information so they have it. then you get assigned to a group to visit the houses with. there’s one group leader (i forget what they call them) and they are actually in one of the sororities but they don’t tell you which one.

ask anything you want because there’s just so much to write without a specific question haha

you really know your stufff ! lol so can you move in to your dorm then ? or do you just have to stick aorund … does it waive the early move in fee? godd tell me everythinggg ! hah i know you wee sayin you wanted to rush one … which ones were you thinking ?

I’m so bummed too because the one thing I missed at open house that I shoulda went to was the clubs presentation , wahhh looks like I have to back … $$$

haha yes another excuse to go back! and i don’t think it waives the early move in fee unfortunately and you do stay in your dorm. first pick for a bed though… hahah. and i definitely want to keep an open mind about all the sororities and if i end up at ucf i definitely want to see them all for myself, but i’ve heard really good things about zeta tau alpha and delta delta delta

yeahh everything im reading puts tridelta at the top , and then kappa delta . i checked out their websites and it just looks like ssssm fun !!

i know! all the events and everything look soooo fun i definitely want to rush

is it veryyy selective ? what are the odds ?

well it’s really different for everyone since it’s a mutual selection process but i know a lot of girls who have gotten bids from their first choices but everyone i know that has rushed has gotten a bid even if it wasn’t their first house

ahhhh good to knooo ! do you live in the dorms still ? is that a stupid question ?

not a stupid question at all! haha and yes you still live in the dorms, i think after your freshman year some people live in the house but it’s mostly the people who hold positions in the sorority. it probably depends on the house since they all have a different amount of bedrooms

hmmm deff something I’m interested in !!! thanks for allll the help ! I’m sure I’ll have more questions !

no problem and i’m here to answer anything haha :)

Ah, now you two got me thinking:/ Originally, I had NO intention of joining one. I just didn’t have an interest in it, at all. However, it seems like it’s a great option to meet a lot of people, and have a lot of fun. However, I think it would clash, if you were to have a job on campus. Seems like many meetings, and my main priority is finding a job-my parents are spending a dime on me while I’m there, even plain tickets are forced onto me. Plus, the expense of joining one…a little hesitent, for me. I know I won’t be joining one my freshmen year…depending, though, I may look into it sophmore year.

I know, I orginally didn’t think about it either. But I think I’m really into it… I was also told today by my mom that regardless, she wants me to do the early move in so it’s less stressful trying to get me situated… YAY
