I'm considering rushing for spring quarter, but I was wondering if any current or former sorority members (or anyone who happens to know) could tell me which--if any--of the sororities are the least party-centric. I'm fine with going to some parties and of course, other events, but I don't drink, and I don't want to be pressured into partying -heavily- just by being in a sorority. Thanks for any info! :)

if u dont drink then dont join a sorority…nuff said

I don’t know any girls in sororities who don’t drink at all, but I do know sorority girls who aren’t heavy drinkers…

My question to you is, if you’re not a big partier then WHY on earth would you want to rush a sorority??

I’m in a sorority, I don’t drink at all and I am not a heavy partier. I’ve been in my sorority for over a year and have never felt pressured to do so. I still have a lot of fun though and go out to events and parties when I feel like it. I don’t want to say which of the sororities are more “party-centric” because every house is going to have girls who party a lot and one’s who don’t as much and everything I were to tell you would be based on stereotypes which tend to be overly exaggerated. It’s up to you to go through rush and figure out which house you think suits you the most

Hi Eiffel,
I hope I am doing this right as it is my first post here, and I wanted to let you know that my daughter loves her sorority at UCLA.
I think they might be exactly what you are looking for.

There are small exceptions…but there IS a lot of partying/events in the sorority scene and plenty of drinking to be had. Just the way it is. I had a friend who never drank or partied who entered a sorority…lets just say she’s always busy now.

Thanks for the feedback so far, guys. Any other opinions/info would be appreciated too. :)

Does anyone know which sororities are better or not? any recomendations?

All sororities (except those on social probation) have events that involve drinking, but it’s up to you if you want to attend. As mentioned above, every house has hardcore partiers and every house also has girls that never party. It really is what you make it- the opportunity to party/drink is always there, but you don’t have to take it.

Alpha Phi, Kappa, Theta, DG. I know girls in Alpha Phi and DG who don’t have to drink if they don’t want to but yeah most girls in sororities drink on a weekly basis.
