drinking

if I prefer to not drink at parties, should I even bother rushing for sororities?
...or is the myth false about greeks liking to drink a lot?

How's cocaine? Is cocaine okay?

only if mary-kate olsen will do it with me

If you're planning to rush without getting drunk, you're not getting in anyways...

flopsy--are you saying that there is drinking at rush functions?

Excellent observations, everyone!

There won't be any drinking at a sorority rush event. No one will pressure you, or make you feel uncomfortable. If you choose to join, you may find yourself in a situation where it's hard to say no. It all depends on the sorority, the type of party you're at, and the people you associate with.

uh... for the IFC frats and panhellenic sororities (the ones with houses on both sides of campus), there's not supposed to be alcohol during rush week. i believe that's their own rules. if one of them does have alcohol, then you know that frat/sorority doesn't play by the rules, and probably has some hardcore pledging too

okay UCLAri, what's with the sarcasm? Get a life...you're not even attending UCLA anymore. To everyone else: thanks for the help

kaligirl,

Get a sense of humor. I was just playing around. Jeez. Besides, flopsy knows where I'm coming from, so mind your own beeswax.

I agree with UCLAri.

you are still pathetic for a 20 something person...btw, how can I "mind my own beeswax" when I posted this thread?

kaligirl,

Okay, first off, get over yourself. I was merely playing around with the whole sorority and cocaine tie. In case you didn't know, it's a pretty common notion that cocaine and Greek life go together (well, pretty much all substance abuse and Greek life go together...)

If you can't so much as take a joke, I'm sorry. But, as the French say, "c'est la vie."

And for the record, just because you started the thread doesn't mean that you have sole rights to its content and/or direction. Welcome to the Tangentnet.

apology accepted...I am not going to post another reply after this so here goes:
you do NOT, i repeat DO NOT, want to have an irritated italian mama open up a sturdy steel can of woop ass on you!!! btw, ciao bella! ;)

OUCH! How can you do that Ari....=/

Haha Ari, that literally made me lol.

aww come on guys let's be friends. a drink anyone? ;)

Drinking is too common in Japan. No more arukoru for me.

Gahaha in Rieber this summer there were lots of Japanese ESL students there. Some of them liked to drink more than any of us, that's for sure. It was so funny. "Ooohh ahhh I'm drrunnk!"

I'm gonna miss those guys.

I'll bet the English and German drinkers on my floor could have out-drunk the Japanese drinkers on your floor any day of the week!
