Sorry, it's another "Chances" thread! (UCSD)

Hi everyone, thanks ahead of time for coming here and helping me out!

I'm graduating from a pretty prestigious high school in California (South Pasadena High) in 2013 and I hope to enter college (preferably UCSD) in the Fall of 2013, and I heard about this site so here goes.

I heard freshman year doesn't count, so I'll just do Sophomore/Junior year:

SOPHOMORE YEAR:

Algebra II Honors: C/B
AP Chemistry: B/A
English 10 Honors: A/A
Spanish 3/4 Honors: B/B
World History Honors: A/A

-I had study hall and Academic Assistant (2nd semester) as my sixth class
-I also did water polo and swim team (as well as freshman year)
-I was also part of Red Cross Club and like 2 other clubs

JUNIOR YEAR:

Math Analysis: B/A
AP Environmental Science: A/A
AP Language: A/A
Spanish 5/6 Honors: A/A
AP US History: B/B
Health/Computers: A/A

-Did water polo but not swimming
-Was part of Red Cross Club again
-I got some President's Award for Academics or something but I'm not sure if that counts

SAT combined: 2130 (I can list individual scores later if anybody needs them)
-I haven't taken the ACT yet (should I?)

I have 3 volunteer hours so far (haha) but I plan to get a bunch more before graduation/November because I was elected Secretary of the Red Cross Club (hopefully that helps my chances)

I'm applying to UCSD and UCSB as well as a few other UC schools and other schools in California

Could anybody take their time and rate my chances, please?

Thank you so much, again!

What’s your overall GPA?

This website called Naviance says it’s a 3.66 unweighted, but I think it’s also counting my freshman year

Weighted is (for Soph and Junior year together only): 4.0

I also took Pre-AP Chem for summer school before Sophomore year so I’m not sure if that counts (I got an A)

What major are you applying as?

Hopefully Biology or Zoology

You might be borderline. Look at the stats finder to find your school.
[University of California: StatFinder](http://statfinder.ucop.edu/)

Probably my strongest asset is writing essays, so I’m confident I’ll do really well

Here are some AP scores if they help:

AP Chem - 4
AP US History - 4
AP Lang - 5
AP Environmental Science - 5

I’ve also worked a few summer jobs, and tutored some peers freshman year, if that helps

This probably isn’t helpful at all but Hi from another SPHS person! Go tigers!

I think you have a good shot at UCSD. Although your GPA is slightly lower than average your SAT is great! Good luck!

Chance me back

Your GPA is weak, but the jump between 10’th and 11’th grade looks really good! Of course, good job on the SAT
I’d say that you have a pretty good shot at UCSD should you increase your volunteer hours by 100 ASAP. Other than that, good luck!

Thanks to everybody for your help!

@window - Hi!
@bball - Thank you!
@coco - Should I get those 100 hours by November or just by the time I graduate?

Am I allowed to bump this?

I just got 2 awards; one is “AP Scholar With Honor” and another one is for achievement on the PSAT

Just realized that having a few jobs throughout my high school career might help a little
