I was wondering what people from different schools are called... Like, Swarthmore students are called Swatties, Bryn Mawr students are called Martyrs.. etc... What are people from Franklin and Marshall called? Or Brown, Amherst, Williams, Wake Forest, Carnegie Mellon, University of Maryland College Park & other places? (those listed are just places where me or my friends are applying & that I was particularly interested about)

If you're a University of Delaware double legacy you're a "doubledel."

I have no idea, but I am willing to take a guess:

Franklin & Marshall - Marshies
Brown - Brownies
Amherst - NO CLUE THIS ONE IS HARD
Williams - Willies
Wake Forest - Wakies
Carnegie Mellon - Melons
UMCP - Parkies

It seems to me that most names are just a part of the school name in which you can add -ies to. That or they refer to you as your mascot. For instance, I go to UNLV and the mascot is a rebel, so we're called rebels. (Sorry I could not be of much help.)

amherst-amhersties?

We're Yalies! (the name didn't appeal to me before I enrolled, but now it's sorta grown on me)

I thought you were Eli's

I have never heard of Willies for Williams students. Ephmen or Ephs was standard terminology back in the day.

hmmmm I wonder what Darmouth would be. We always just say "Dartmouth grads" I think!

Hhhhmmm...I've never really heard anyone use "Eli's" before, though...

I don't think that I've heard us called Wakies, before. Usually we're called Deacons (or Deacs) because our teams are the Demon Deacons. I think that this phenomenon is usually in the south. It's pretty common to hear someone call himself or herself a Tarheel (and everyone around knows that means he/she goes to Carolina), and it isn't uncommon to hear a student call him/herself a Blue Devil.

I should add, however, that I have heard Duke students referred to as Dukies, though.

Students here at BYU are called "Mormons."

awesome post Welshie!
to that end - Penn kids are well, Penn kids, or possibly Quakers or to follow Welshie's line of reasoning - JAPs.

Im pretty sure that UMD students are referred to as "Terps." I've lived here all my life and have never heard "Parkies."

Elis tends to be for varsity athletes....though 'Sons of Eli' is also a term for Yalies.

Amherst students, if we do the athlete thing, would be called 'Lord Jeffs.'

I've seen Eli on crossword puzzles for "Yale alum"

I was just noticing that some of the all-female schools (Mt. Holyoke and Wellesley) don't have mascots...is that a seven sisters thing?

Bryn Mawr has the owl as a mascot...I'm not sure about the others.

what do u call MIT people?
Amherst-hersters

here at University of California Santa Cruz we're slugs.

our mascot is the banana slug!!

go slugs :)

Keep your salts down kewkiekid ;)
