Soundproofing dorms!

To the original poster, I hope you've talked this over with your roommate. He may want to be able to study in his room and get some peace and quiet. Even if you could soundproof your room so that it wouldn't bother neighbors, there's always the person(s) inside.

I know i know. Its not even loud or obnoxious music its just that the subwoofer does have a tendency to create vibrations and i just wanted to see if anyone had any info on ways to limit noise leakage.

i'm all for bose.

it's all about branding, style, and what is popular. it's like clothing companies. people want what's hot, popular, and what is trendy, even though you can buy something of better quality at target.

Did you read my link?

There's nothing of better quality than bose.. you are wrong there buddy!

bose = abercrombie
klipsch = giorgio armani :-0

There isnt anything wrong with the quality of bose. The problem is that its brand name marks the price up soooo high its just not worth it. You could by the bose 5.1 system for $2000 or you could by the klipsch's for $500. Same quality, but the name doesnt add $1500 to the price.

Exactly correct.

Add a sub to the speakers I recommended and add a powered sub, and you would certainly have a better set up than the $500 bose speakers.

Oh, and this is style <a href="http://www.bwspeakers.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/products.models/label/Model%20Nautilus%5B/url%5D">http://www.bwspeakers.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/products.models/label/Model%20Nautilus</a></p>

"No highs, no lows, Bose" is a standard cut on A/V forums. Frankly, I can tell the Klipsh sound a little beter than the Bose, but my family also has some expensive Klipsch and less expensive Bose (so it's not really a fair test).

BOSE = Buy Other Sound Equipment

Hmm...

Two notes: Coltrane and Davis FTW.
Klipsch? Pfft. Try having a 700 w THX-certified reciever w/ JBL standing speakers hooked up in a dorm.

Now that's how to tick off your neighbors. :D
