Southern preppy colleges??

I am a rising senior with an unweighted gpa of 3.98 and my ACT is a 30, but I am taking it again in September hoping for a little improvement.
I want to go to a southern preppy school, I would like about 6,000-15,000 undergrads but I am open to anything as of now.
I really like Southern Methodist University, College of Charleston, and U of Miami (I know it's not southern preppy but I still like it).

What schools does everyone suggest I look at? (No farther North than South Carolina please)

I want to visit University of Georgia and possibly Vanderbilt if I can increase my ACT.

Thanks

Well I was going to suggest Washington and Lee when I read the title, but it’s pretty small <3,000 students, and is in Virginia. But it’s a pretty preppy school with good academics.

May I suggest Wake Forest University? I know it’s in North Carolina, so it doesn’t fit your “no farther North than South Carolina” criteria, but it’s culture is considered quite southern and preppy. Not to mention it’s a good school that’s within your reach.

I think the Wake Forest suggestion is a really good one. Along those lines, Elon in North Carolina also felt very southern preppy, and should be a match for admission with the current stats.

TCU gave off a similar vibe to SMU’s when I visited, and so did Baylor to an extent.

Wofford, Sewanee, Furman

What about Ole Miss?

Clemson University although it’s nothing like the schools that interested you.

Lots of southern schools in these threads:

You may want to check if any of them are preppy enough for you.

Why aren’t you looking at Alabama? Beautiful, preppy kids, Greek System, and you’d get a merit scholarship.

I’d suggest Davidson College, although it may be too small.

Wake Forest & University of Richmond, although slightly further north than your criteria.

Davidson, W&L, & Vanderbilt are reaches with current ACT score. (Davidson & W&L being much smaller than you seek).

That sounds like Arkansas. It’s one of the smaller SEC schools but still pretty fratty

I think you would like Auburn University in Alabama and possibly Tulane University in New Orleans. Although Tulane tends to attract a high number of northereners there’s still a southern vibe to it. Also take a look at University of South Carolina, Louisiana State University, or like others have mentioned Sewanee, Ole Miss, Elon, Wake Forest, etc.

Clemson and Elon.
