Spanish 102 vs 204 vs 303

Hi all,

I've been going over the language requirements for Trinity and I'm a little confused about where I should place myself in Spanish.

The options I'm considering are:

Spanish 102->203->204

204->303(or other /300 level)

Only 300 level

I plan to be premed so having a high gpa is really important. Right now I'm in my fifth year of Spanish, though none of them have been AP. Last year as a junior, my class did an intensive study of the majority of tenses( future, pluscamperfecto, conditional etc). This year the class is mostly on Spanish history with minimal verb review once/twice a quarter.

The best case scenario would be taking the 300 level, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to handle it. If necessary I'd be willing to review verb conjugations and some vocab over the summer if necessary. Again, I'm worried about the grade i'd get in the course b/c I'm premed.

The second option is to take 204 to brush up and then go to a 300. Again, I'd be worried about the grade I'll get in both of the classes.

The final option is to drop into elementary Spanish. This would be good in the sense that I'd be able to maintain high grades in these classes ( please correct me if that's not the case). However I'd be giving up 3 classes to Spanish as opposed to 1 or 2 with the other options.

Any thought or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Don’t take Spanish. Portuguese , Russian, and Italian are known as easier languages.

Spanish 300 level classes focus much more on applying spanish to research projects and studying the culture of Hispanics in America/Spanish cities or something of the sort depending on the semester.
