Spanish 4 vs AP Psychology

Freshman schedule: Geometry, Computer Graphics, Biology, Honors English 9, Honors Foundations of Technology, Gym/Health, Spanish 3, APUSH (AP US History)

Tentative sophomore schedule: Honors English 10, Engineering Foundations 2, Honors Chemistry, Algebra 2, AP Government, AP Computer Science Principles, Microbiology/Physiology, and one elective: either AP Psych or Spanish 4.

Which one should I take? I’m a straight A student and doubt I will have problems keeping up in either class. I do want to love Spanish and would like to speak it fluently but I also like learning about why people do what they do and not to mention the boost AP classes give your GPA. Also my school doesn’t offer AP Spanish and I don’t know if I will have space to take the class junior or senior year.

I would say Spanish 4. It looks good to take four years of a language and from what I’ve been told, AP Psychology is not considered a very rigorous AP (I could be wrong on this- I was just told that by a couple of people).

@moviestar505 I suggest you post this in the High School Life forum.

Since you want to improve your Spanish, keep taking Spanish until you run out of courses to take. If any of your friends are native or heritage speakers of Spanish, you may want to try talking to them in Spanish for extra practice.

If you really want to take AP psychology, you may want to keep Spanish 4 and drop microbiology/physiology instead, as it is a regular level non-core elective.

Spanish 4 is a core class whereas psychology is an elective. You’ll be able to take AP psychology junior or senior year.
Or replace Anatomy with Psychology, as both are electives.
