Spanish at Cornell

Hi

I will be taking Spanish 1230 next semester. I have a choice of either Amigo-Silvestre or Depetris-Chauvin.

Just any advice on Spanish?

Thanks!

I’m taking it as well. What does ratemyprofs have to say about the matter?

I had Chauvin in my freshman year. She’s Aregentinian with a thick accent with her Spanish.

Basically, you get a lot of homework.

Study and you get quizzes like every day I think. Tests are essay based mostly on the culture+vocab you learned + grammar obviously. Pretty grammar intensive.

It’s spanish…do your homework…nuff said.

Ok…thx. Better safe than sorry

So Chauvin has an Argentinian accent? So did my old HS teacher so I dont think it would matter too much

Yea…u should be fine. Tests are “essays” and you just follow the format. You get lots of homework Mon-Thur, mini quizzes are "fine’ as long as you memorize the vocab/grammar that was assigned for homework…since the quizzes add up. But she likes drops a portion of ur worst quizzes.
