I know I want to minor in Spanish, and I was reading through the CAS catalog. It says that you have to take two courses out of 324 Intro. to the Study of Hispanic Cultures, 326 Intro to Hispanic Linguistics, and 328 Intro to Hispanic Literature.
Has anyone else dealt with this? What did you take?
I was thinking about Linguistics, but I'm not sure about it. I think Lit might be the smart choice, but I HATE magical-realism. Is that class mostly that genre? If so, I don't think I'm interested.
I'd appreciate any info you can give me.

I’ve taken all three. Whether you like the class or not really depends on which teacher you get. However, each class always has one basic element.

-All S324 classes read the same book. You memorize dates, events, and people. Good general history of Spain and Latin America.
-S326 always depends on your teacher. I loved my class. Basic intro to linguistics. Got to do mini experiments.
-S328 does have different genres. The texts are from different periods of time. We split my class into theater readings, poetry, and fiction. They were short texts but I have heard some classes read small books as well. (My least favorite of the three but my friend’s favorite.)

It really depends on what you like most as well. If you like literature, take 328. If you don’t, then take the other ones.

Thank you!
