I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the spanish placement test is like. is it multiple choice and do you have to speak or write. anything would be helpful

I never took it, but when I was a first year, my FYM told me it was really easy. Multiple choice and you graded it yourself – no speaking section. That was a few years back, so I’m not sure if they changed it or not.

Every language’s placement exam is different; some languages do have writing and speaking sections.

It was self-graded in my day too (fall 2004), and I think there were some fill in questions as well as read the story ones. I’m good at languages and got myself into 201 with two years of high school Spanish (piggybacking on 5 years of French), but never took Spanish at Wellesley. I was slighly ambitious and looked up some verb tenses I wasn’t formally taught but knew the French equivalent ones beforehand. If you have a good idea of what you know, what you haven’t learned, and what you learned, but forgot (look it back up the night before), you’ll do fine. There was no speaking.
