Special Circumstances Question

I was planning on taking the sat subject tests on December of this year. I am a senior applying to college this month. A parent passed away two days before and I was unable to take the test. I am trying to catch up in school work and I have not been able to study for my subject tests due to the fact that if I do not make up all the work I missed before the end of the quarter I will fail or have incomplete on my transcript. If I applied to a school without sat 2 subject tests and my guidance counselor attached a note explaining these circumstances and why I couldn't take them, would schools that require subject tests consider my application anyway in light of the circumstances? I have SAT 1's, just not subject tests cause of the situation. If anyone knows whether this scenario is possible or any advice on what to do your insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

While I don’t have an answer for you,I wanted to wish you well and say I am sorry for your loss…

I’m so sorry for your loss
but to answer your questions, I think the guidance counselor should write his recommendation based on the events that occurred (not just a little note).
The college will most likely take that into account and disregard the faults.

Best of luck, and again, sorry for your loss

I actually can’t believe a high school would fault a student for taking days off due to a parent dying. This seems heartless.
Anyway: your counselor should explain what happened in his/her recommendation. You may want to provide details in a bullet point list.
If the college wants you to, offer to take the SAT Subjects in January?

thank you to all. the issue with subject tests further extends to that if I were to do them in january as you suggest, i would have to go in with no studying virtually at all. I am trying to make up lots of work, papers, and tests now until the end of the semester so if I were to take subject tests in january I would most likely do very poorly That might be the only option it seems if no one knows whether or not it would be okay to apply without subject tests
