specialty dorms at IU?

I am interested in IU for my daughter, who would apply to Jacobs. Are there special dorms at IU, such as no-drugs/alcohol or quiet only dorms? I know private schools have these but not so many public.

thanks

There are special interest living-learning centers in the dorms-where all the students on a floor have the same focus or interest. Perhaps there is one for music students. My D lives in Read on a floor with other students interested in journalism. She said many music majors live in Read because of the close proximity to the Jacobs School of Music.

I noticed about the following living option. Is it in a quiet neighborhood with good food choice nearby? How expensive is it? Is it air conditioned?

Thanks

There aren’t special dorms that are quiet or free of alcohol. There are dorms that have the reputation of being like that - for example, the Southeast neighborhood has 2 dorms that freshman can live in, Forest and Read. Most of the Jacobs students live there, since they are right by the music school. Read has the reputation of something that you’re looking for, since most of the people there are quiet and don’t drink or smoke. But you won’t find a specific dorm that is special for that.

To ace550:
The Heath Sciences living community is in Ashton this year, which is a dorm with all singles. It is one of the older buildings, but it does have air conditioning. Prices should be listed online. Most people that are pre-med don’t live there - I’ve found that they usually live in honors floors or academic floors.
