Spectrum customers, ESPN is gone!

Apparently ESPN and Spectrum cable were not able to come to a deal and now it’s off our cable system.

Labor Day weekend, the start of college football and no ESPN.

Not sure why to have cable if sports are gone.

Any other spectrum customers?

We have Uverse and have lost our local Fox channel for several weeks.

We have Spectrum and I hadn’t heard about this. My school plays on ESPN tonight so I tried to pull up the channel. Sure enough, I got the message about the contract problems. Luckily my husband subscribes to ESPN plus and the game will play there. There really aren’t many reasons for us to keep cable, but I just can’t bring myself to cut the cord.

Yep. Plug was pulled last night mid US Open tennis match. Most matches are on ESPN or Espn2 so there goes my weekend. Football game tomorrow is hosting Gameday which won’t get to see, but game is actually on network channel, but know many football fans won’t be so lucky.

Maddening that try to encourage people to contact Disney. Spectrum this is your supply chain issue. Customers have paid for something you’re not providing. Hope we get a rebate. On a personal note my H spends a LOT of time watching sports. If. To sports he is watch a news channel I hate so this needs to get fixed fast.

Youtube TV has espn and is probably cheaper than Spectrum.

My dh is ticked.

Our challenge is that we are in a condo building, and our internet and cable are bundled with that cost included in our POA dues. So we can get something else, but it won’t be a switch for us; rather, it would be an additional cost. We would be paying for a lot of duplicate channels with anything else we got.

We can’t figure out what ESPN+ includes. It doesn’t appear to include the regular ESPN programming channels?? We also need/want the SEC Network in addition to all the ESPN channels.

ESPN+ doesn’t include the regular ESPN channels. Sling-Orange has ESPN 1, 2, and 3, and is probably the cheapest option, $20 for 1st month (half price) if you have never had Sling. Maybe worth $20 while the Spectrum-ESPN negotiations play out? It can be cancelled at any time.

Long-term with Sling, an antenna would be required for ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX, assuming you live within ~40 miles of the stations. It works well for me.

SEC network throws a hitch in. Sling offers it, but with the various add-ons needed, YouTube TV base package is a better deal.

Yes!!! 1 hour before the start of college football :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

We have ESPN+ (Disney bundle), but it doesn’t give access to any game being aired on ESPN. What’s the point of even having an ESPN+ subscription, Disney!!?? We aren’t paying extra for it; it was “free” with our last phone upgrade. Yes, I’m using the word “free” loosely :joy:

We have Spectrum as part of our HOA fees, so we don’t have a choice of providers; we don’t have the option to opt out. We pay whether we use it or not ($65/month for tv & internet). We used to have youtube tv before the neighborhood got fiberoptic a couple months ago.

I missed my niece’s field hockey game last night; it was being broadcast

I really don’t want to add another streaming service.

I would be happy to lose all of the “news” networks, FOX, CNN, MSNBC…they can all go. But ESPN, that’s a channel we need

Not Fox News, the local Fox station, so many tv programs including Master Chef and Crime Scene Kitchen. Also local news and sports.

Whole lot of people on Twitter canceling spectrum. Spectrum might have underestimated what doing this the first full weekend of college ball and US Open Tennis means to people

Thanks for the intel.

We are getting a free, one-week trial of FUBO to cover this weekend, and then we will figure out what we should do.

We are in the exact same situation. Our cable and internet are included in our building. It has been a great deal for about $60 a month? with a broad package for our cable. But we gotta have our college football.

We are trying YouTube tv right now because of this. Dh is delighted to get to watch 4 games at the same time. We were looking at getting rid of cable and this might convince us.

We have You Tube for sports (my brother’s choice). I actually don’t like it. I have to flip through all the channels to find what I want. It buffers a lot. There are these 30-60 second nature zen breaks.

But on antenna TV, we can’t get basic ABC tv (thanks Disney).

The Stamford, Connecticut-based cable company has also been trying to rework its offerings to split live sports from general entertainment. Its new packages include one with regional sports networks (RSNs) and some national sports channels, and a cheaper package without them. It is not immediately clear whether Spectrum wanted Disney to agree to allow a split between its ESPN channels and its other entertainment channels. However, a statement from Charter suggested that may be one of the points of contention:

“We would agree to The Walt Disney Company’s significant rate increase despite their declining ratings. But they are trying to force our customers to pay for their very expensive programming, even those customers who don’t want it or worse, can’t afford it,” Charter said in a statement. “The current video ecosystem is broken. With The Walt Disney Company, we have proposed a model that creates better alignment for the industry and better choices for our customers. We are hopeful we can find a path forward.”

Luckily you didn’t miss the CU-TCU game as it was on Fox (broadcast). CU enters Prime Time (okay, the game was on at 10 am) with a win.

We Comin’. Sko Buffs.

(at one point today, YouTube cut off our streaming as my brother was watching 3 games on 3 different devices and I was watching another. Welcome back football! We were a little excited)

Cut the cord and get a Firestick and then Hulu live. It’s great for sports. My friends had to come over to watch Tulane since I get like every ESPN (including ESPNU) plus like every other game being played. It is great for sports over all.

Another unhappy Spectrum customer here. We have been on the verge of finding another option for awhile and this latest move has pushed us to take action. Currently trying the YouTube TV trial.
