Spoke to soon or just freaking out??!

Hi - so, as I posted on another thread, my status changed from decision pending to admission approved on 4/6.

I have not yet received my packet as of yesterday's mail (4/8).

From what I've read on these forums, the packet arrives 10 days after your status changes. I've heard it arrrives via snail mail, then other people have posted theirs came via FedEx. I'm wondering if the FedEx deliveries were only a special thing for EA admits? (I applied EA but was deferred to RD.)

Also, I read here that some admitted students were called, congratulating them. Again, I wonder if that was just a courtesy extended to EA admits?? I have not received a call.

Okay, so here's my deal: When I saw my webadvisor changed to Admission Approved, my family took it to mean that I was accepted (I mean, is there any possible interpretation of those two words used together - what else could it mean?). I've read from many people on this forum that Admission Approved on their webadvisor did, in fact, translate to an acceptance upon receiving something in the mail.

With that said, now that my family has told everyone they know (!!!), I'm freaking out that I really wasn't accepted and am going to have to endure the humiliation of retracting this to everyone we know, including peers, teachers, etc!

HELP! Any words of comfort anyone can provide?

Also, what about any conditional terms? Could they really put Admission Approved, only to get your packet stating terms that you are not necessarily totally "in" (short of the obvious that you graduate high school this semester!). Throughout this process, my grades have been of concern to them, although I had other things going for me - competitive scores with the data on their website as well as what is stated on collegeboard.com, amazing recs, well-rounded resume, good interview, (apparently), samples of highschool projects relating to my major, maintained frequent communication with my AC so they knew I really wanted it, and so forth. (At least those things must've helped me out if I at least got something relating to Admission Approved??)

I'm just hoping the packet doesn't say anything like "unless you have a GPA of such-and-such at the end of the semester your offer is rescinded".

(As you can tell, I'm clearly freaking out!)

oops, forgot to click on instant notification of posts!

I’d say you’re in. You’re just freaking out lol. Keep waiting.

The people who received their packages FedEx or DHL were international applicants. Yours should arrive regular mail. When my son was admitted into other universities a few years ago, his acceptance letters did say something like they expect he will continue his senior year with excellent grades (or something like that). Relax, keep up on your school work, and it will all be OK.

Thanks for the words of support!!!

101233, take a deep breath and calm down…

just stand outside every day next to your mailbox and wait for the mailman, rain or shine

ha!

I’m sure the postal carrier thinks I’m stalking him by now!

Congrats! Now the thing that I would do if I were you is to just relax and try to enjoy the weekend! Sounds like you have nothing to worry about! :)

UPDATE: I received my envelope today! Aaah… sigh of relief.

101233…whewww, truly a warm congratulations to you!

Told you :P

congrats!

Yes you did - thank you!!!
