SPOP Question

For those that have attended already...

Did you have time to visit the financial aid office on day 1? It's nearly impossible to contact them via email and phone because they are so busy.

What happens if you haven't taken the "mandatory" placement tests? Will I be able to take it during orientation?

After lunch the first day you pretty much have free time to shop the bookstore, go to fin aid, or whatever you need to do, until about 4:00. You’ll have an hour or so window during that time where you go to the comp lab to sign up for classes, but before or after that you will have an opportunity to visit fin aid. Hope this helps!

Wait is there anything that we have to do at the Financial Aid office? Like do we have to go their to ensure that we get our aid or something?

I’m not sure, but I need to go to the financial aid office because my Cal Grant B and Federal Pell Grant are still unconfirmed and I don’t know why…

I don’t know if you guys have done this yet, but I needed to sign a waiver form for the Financial Aid office for UCI to be able to talk to my parents about any financial issues, and another waiver form for the Financial Aid office to disclose any information about my fees and etc. If you haven’t done it yet, you can definitely find the document online and send it in the the mail.

as for placement tests, I don’t know anyone who took it during orientation, just the day before orientation. I already went to SPOP, and i still need to get my physics placement test done before august so it’s cool. I lucked out because even if I pass/fail the test, my schedule won’t get screwed up. but definitely try to take the placement test ASAP so you can schedule your classes.

No, you only need to visit the Financial Aid office if you have something that needs to be taken care of in person.

Normally you’d want to take the test before SPOP so that you could register for your classes based on your placement test.
