<p>From what I've read, Maryland seems great, I just want to know what opportunities there are in sports journalism? Also, what suggestions can you make to prepare for a major in journalism?</p>

<p>the journalism school does offer a kinesiology minor, which is basically the sports writing idea. the classes are history of sports in america, sport and american society and i forget the other ones. apparantly theres also a sports writing class thats an upper level class in the j school</p>
<p>if you are going to the journalism school at maryland my best advice is to be SURE you want to be a journalist, or at least be willing to work very hard in the major. its basically journalism bootcamp. youll have to read the washington post every day and in the intro to reporting class you cant make a single mistake on a paper. one spelling or grammatical error gets an f</p>
<p>its really rough but if you are serious about the major its a great education and youre going to be very prepared when you graduate</p>
