Im a juinor in highschool and am thinking about college.. Long story short I want to be a doctor someday and would like to go into the field of sports medicine and was wondering if a sports science major would be appropriate for getting into medical school. Or would double majoring or minoring in something else more complicated help?

I don’t think that majoring in sports science would be any “leg up” for someone who’s going into Sports Med. The excellent Sports Med doctors that I know had “regular” majors as undergrads…bio, chem, etc.

Yeah, in general you can major in anything you want, but you should pick an academic subject – e.g. biology, chemistry, history, economics, something like that. Vocational majors like sport science aren’t good choices.

I also think that sports science sounds like a jock major…some easy major that the football players do. That may not be true, but it just doesn’t sound academic enough.
