Sports

I am interested in participating in sports at William and Mary. I was wondering if any could tell me what is the difference between Club Basketball and Intramural Basketball. Thanks.

I don't know much about basketball in particular, but if it follows the general pattern of sports it's like this:

Intramural basketball is open to everyone. For a small fee you (and your team) sign up to play recreational games against other similarly minded and skilled people (teams are broken up into A and B divisions by skill). The games are informal and officiated and scheduled by the rec sports department. If I recall, the IM basketball at W&M is 3 on 3.

Club basketball would be a more serious time commitment, and would probably require a tryout. The club teams hold practices several times a week and are mostly populated by people who played the sport in HS but aren't necessarily good enough to make the varsity level teams. Typically these teams have a set season and compete against other local universities.
