Schedule of Classes - Spring 2009: Office of the Registrar: Indiana University Bloomington

Blah for freshmen who have to go the last day.

Seriously, how many backup classes should I have?
9? 10? Hahahah

radron are you a freshmen or a sophomore? i thought you were a sophomore.

if you have extra credits from high school than you will be ahead of the other freshmen so hopefully you got some extra credits

i have 22 cr. without first semester credits added in...so i should be ahead, hopefully.

Yep, saw this yesterday and son already has all his classes (and which sessions of them he wants) picked out for next semester.

Now if we can only get the scheduled registration dates finalized so we know when to go on and enroll.

Calcruzer, where do you find the registration date? Thanks.

You go into Onestart

(Accessible from the Main Indiana University Bloomington page under "Popular Campus Sites" or directly at
https://onestart.iu.edu/my2-prd/portal/0 )

then click on "Go to Student Center"

then on the right side of the screen click on "Open Enrollment Dates"

Choose "Spring 2009" and click "Continue"

and it will give you the date (which were just posted today). My son, being a junior, has an enrollment date of November 22nd. Seniors will have enrollment dates before that. Sophomores and Freshmen should be later than that.

Thanks for pointing out how to find the date.

My son is a freshman with 13 credits coming in and his says November 22, too. So maybe everybody is getting that date for now.

The calendar for Spring 2009 says that enrollment for current students is October 23-November 21. Official Calendar - Spring 2009: Office of the Registrar: Indiana University Bloomington

Hope my son can get into A205 honors financial accounting. He might not have enough credits to get in though. Only eight freshmen as of the first week of class took the course last year, and he will be on the low end of the sophomore class as of the first week this year.

My son's says November 22nd as well. I think that is actually the first date that new students or transfer students can register.

I don't think they have announced the dates for currently enrolled students yet, beyond the October 23 to November 21 timeframe listed on the calendar. Son is anxious to find out his date too.

I am confused and hope you can help. The Registrar page says "early registration" is Oct. 23-Nov. 21. However the onestart page refers to "open enrollment dates" and everyone seems to get the date of Nov. 22, including my son.
Does anyone know the difference of these dates? Does the student have to go see a counselor and get his schedule approved prior to "enrolling" for spring 2009?
Thanks for any help.

Usually they give not only dates, but also times--so I think that IllinoisMom2006 is correct--they are probably using that as a "space holder" and will give us the exact days and times in a week or so.

I hope so, otherwise I don't know how my son is going to be able to get all the courses he needs to qualify for his I-Core that he hasn't taken yet--and has to take in his senior year to graduate.

My son's registration date & time has been posted on the Student Center page today.

EDIT: I also note that credit for the class he took this summer has not yet been added to his transcript. It was only 3 hours so it probably wouldn't have made a big difference, but if he had taken a full load in the summer and it wasn't added, it's omission could have been a big deal appointment-wise.

My son's registration date in also on onestart, he was given Nov. 7 at 1:30. He is a freshman but came to IU with 31 hours and earned another 3 this summer for a total of 34 hours, plus he is taking 15 hours this term.

My son's new time is November 3rd at 3:30 PM. And he also took a 3 unit course this summer--in addition to working full-time--and like IllinoisMom2006's son, it has not yet been posted.

One other thing I should suggest to everyone are the new capabilities in the "Student Center".

(1) If you log on and enter your proposed schedule in the "Shopping Cart", which also includes putting in the class session you want, the computer will check and let you know if the class is still open and if it conflicts with other classes in your schedule. It will also allow you to then enroll in all your classes using a "one-click" feature when your enrollment time arrives; and

(2) If you use the "Advanced Planning" feature on here, your counselor can look up what you are proposing to take each semester and then advise you on whether you are meeting all the requirements, as well as taking all the prerequisities for your required major. It speeds up the counseling session considerably. And it also allows you to have it checked by IU's counseling office while you are on the phone if you call and have questions. We've done this already for my son once this year.

Good luck to everybody in getting the classes they want/need for the Spring 2009 semester.

My son's registration date is not until November 17th. He is a Freshman and did not have any credits coming into IU. I hope he will be able to get classes that are not "early morning." He is taking his first year Spanish class at 8 a.m. on the other side of campus. Needless to say, he has missed 6 classes already due to oversleeping or turning off his alarm and going back to sleep. He's doing great as far as the classwork, but attendance counts for 7% of the grade. They get 4 freebies, and he's surpassed that already. Hopefully, he won't miss any more classes the rest of the Semester.

I'm a direct admit Freshman this semester and I was assigned November 14th, 9:30 am. I'm taking 16 credits this semester and received a few for my grade on the French exam during registration. Not sure if that's a good date or not... just thought I'd share the info.

Bah, November 20. Horse****

I am a little confused. I have been admitted as a freshman for the Spring Semester..sent my housing application three-four weeks ago. Can someone please guide me on what to do next?

Get your ID and password setup so that you can log into "Onestart", which is the student section of the Indiana website. Get to Onestart by choosing it from the drop-down menu on the Indiana University Bloomington page. (the one that says "popular campus sites".)

Once you are logged onto this, go to the "Student Center" weblink (it will be near the top left portion of the first page). Once there, follow my instructions above on post #6 (first page of this thread) to get your scheduled registration date (which will probably be about November 20th or so).

You log into your classes by using the Student Center tools.

P.S. To see the schedule of classes, open up another Internet browser page, and go to the "popular campus sites" dropdown menu and pick "schedule of classes". Once you do this it will list four possible schedule of classes lists. Pick the one marked "student" and you will be able to see all the departments at the school. Choosing each one will bring up a list of classes offered and at what days and time each will be offered in the spring (and who will be teaching the course). You can get the "Grade Distribution Database" to find out how the teachers grade by choosing "Grades" from the same page where you picked the "Student" schedule of classes.

Write back if you need more info than that.

Oh, and be aware that there is a call-in advising office at IU-B that you can call to help you determine what courses you should take (the phone number is 812-855-6768)--and you should have been assigned an advisor as well--which should be listed in the Student Center portion--and whose name you can also get by calling the same phone number.
