Just wondering what my chances would be.

3.5x overall, will be 3.6 after the fall
3.9x pre-professional, 2 more pre-reqs to finish in the fall (I called and they said it would be fine)
I'll have the critical tracking courses listed on the website (semesters 1-5 even though they only require 1-4) which includes an upper division course
Political Science major

I'm coming from a public 4-year in-state. Should I be worried? Also applied for housing ages ago, when I applied for admission. Are my chances of getting a single slim? I'm not sure if I'd want to live off campus.

The only thing you have going against you is that you’re coming from a 4-year… Just try to not let your pre-prof average drop with those last 2 classes because that’ll be a big asset to you. It’s really hit and miss with transfers from 4-year institutions, I’ve seen people with 4.0’s get denied and I’ve seen people with lower gpas get in. Maybe it depends on space availability, I don’t know. But CC transfers absolutely get preference.

As far as housing, I’d be surprised if you got any at all, much less a single. I’ve personally never seen a transfer student get on campus housing. Freshmen and already enrolled students get priority housing.

I’m a transfer student and I have on-campus housing. Wasn’t hard to get either.

^^ I stand corrected then ;)

I’ve never heard of a transfer student getting on-campus housing, either. If you don’t mind me asking, UForBust, what dorm did you get?

Even if it is easy for transfer students to find on-campus housing in the fall, your chances are probably near impossible in the spring. I mean, I guess it could be done, but most dorms will be occupied… and freshman that start in spring get preference.

I called before I applied (or rather paid the 20 or so bucks to hold my place in line) and was assured that there would be room for me on campus if I was accepted. The person I spoke to couldn’t guarantee I’d get a single, but he said I would absolutely have a room assignment.

And thanks for the responses, too :). Would being a minority help? Just wondering, since I’ve heard schools like UF and FSU have primarily caucasian student bodies. Speaking of FSU, would anyone know what my chances would be like for the same term? Or should I go and make another thread?

Edit: Should I transfer to a community college and finish my AA there? I’ve been at my school for two semesters, currently taking summer classes, it would suck to leave for another school just to transfer again. I’m seriously considering it though, given how hard 4 year transfers have it apparently :s.

Murphree Hall. Two room double.

What school are you at, out of curiosity? & why don’t you want to finish your degree there?

I just don’t care for the school very much is all. I also don’t enjoy commuting, if I did I would have gone to CC straight from HS. Though, like I said, I’m beginning to consider it.
