Spring 2014 Transfer Applicant Thread

I got a decision on 10th October. I applied mid-August! I think decision is based on Major and mine came around 5 something I saw it around 6. Good luck! I was waitlisted for Fall’13 but I got in Spring’14 it all depends on luck. Good luck :).

@diasa123, If you are on the waiting list, the status changes as waiting list?

Kind of a random question to anyone who can answer it- How do you know who’s your admission counselor? I know that Tech has a “Find Your Counselor” section on their website, but the titles of people are either “director” or the general “admission counselor,” so I’m still not sure who I need to contact.

Elizabeth Hannah
Transfer Applicants A-K

Brandon Lay
Transfer Applicants L-Z

Where ever your last name fits, that’s your counselor.

Thanks yellowjacket1! I’m probably going to email my counselor if I haven’t heard anything by next week.

@Boo1127- yes I was waitlisted for fall it said waitlisted and the class got full so they closed the waitlist

If I don’t have a decision by the end of next week, I might email my counselor as well. Even if they deny me, I just want to know so I can stop checking buzzport.

Remember that decisions are rolling after October 1st and the counselors dont start reviewing applications until that point. If you apply early that does not mean you will get your decision early. The counselors do decisions by major. Typically with the non engineering decisions coming out first then the engineering decisions last because those are bigger applicant pools. So if you applied for an engineering program you most likely will get your decision in November.
If you contact your counselor they will not tell you your admissions decision because its a rule in Tech’s admissions office to not give out decisions over the phone or email (unless your file is incomplete meaning you are missing something which you can already see on buzzport). They will direct you to just check your Buzzport for your decsion and to be patient.

Denied. Great way to start the weekend. Haha.

Accepted!!! It’s ok @marvinthepa I was the same last semester you can always try again

Congrats amberla! Yeah, I definitely will. Hopefully I can keep my GPA up.

Access Denied

What is that mean? They denied me? or they are viewing my application right now? I am confuse and nervous.

Is that your application status? or did that come up when you tried to log in to Buzzport?

Still waiting for a decision, I know like 7 people now that have been accepted to Chem e so i think my chances are getting slimer and slimer…

My still “File Under Review”. Anyone in ME accepted or denied?

@kjurnieo I am ME and I was accepted Friday, 3.9 overall, 4.0 math and science, 34 in class hours completed + 7 AP. Honestly, i kind of bugged them emailing them after I was denied the first time and also once through this application process to express my continued interest and idk if it helped, but I guess it didn’t hurt.

Based on what ive read on here and seen from my class mates. The lowest Cumilative GPA someone has been accepted with was a 3.7, but I am sure there are acceptions. The school is definately getting more and more competative each year and I am sure that the transfer class profile average GPA’s will rise after this term. In other words make as many A’s as possible and don’t settle for B’s. Good luck to everyone who is checking buzzport everyday like me lol, only a few weeks left until we all find out what they have decided.

what is your name? Im from GPC too

IMO You probably shouldn’t post your name on a public forum.

Hi I am an international student. I have already got accepted to a university for undergraduate degree in engineering as a freshman for spring 14. I think I will attend this university for now and will transfer to Georgia Tech later. Actually I don’t know any thing about how to transfer. So could you guys please answer my questions stated below regarding transfer?
In which semester should I start applying for the transfer, also can I apply for transfer to Georgia Tech after the first semester of my freshman year? What subjects should I take in my freshman year to get a good chance for transferring to the university for an engineering major(mainly mechanical or aerospace)? What is the best possible GPA that I need to get, to have a good chance for transfer? Are extra curricular activities important if so I am hoping to join some clubs in freshman , mainly science club, debate club, community services, etc. Will I join any more clubs to make my application for transfer more strong if so please state them? Also do you think that the university will give me any sort of financial aid after transferring even though I am international student?
