Us fellow students attempting to transfer can discuss our stats and experiences here. I'll start. I'm coming from the University of Georgia. I applied for Business Administration. I have a 3.8 cumulative GPA, with a 4.0 Math/science GPA. I will have ~37 hours towards my degree if I transfer to Tech.

I will apply aerospace engineering.

Nice.

I’m applying for electrical engineering. 4.0 overall GPA…but I will have to wait until the end of this Spring to meet all the requirements.

Where are you guys transferring from?

I am finishing one of my required courses also this fall (Calc 2). I am still applying for the Fall though. Did you not apply for the Fall?

Hi LDC,

I’m going to Georgia Southern for RETP. If I transfer regularly, the only required course left is Composition II. But because I’m in RETP, I have to take more courses. I’m currently taking Linear Algebra and Differential Equation this spring.

EDIT: yes, I submitted the application for the Fall 2014.

Hey guys! I’m a freshman applying to transfer to Georgia Tech in the fall of 2014 for Computational Media. I’m currently attending UGA and I have a 4.0 GPA overall and for math and science.

I have two questions for anyone here that can answer them:

1) I am taking some of my prerequisite courses this semester (spring 2014) but still applying for the fall. My transfer advisor said this was fine because all of my classes would be finished before the document deadline (june 1st). My question is: will this hurt my chances?

2) Along the same lines, if I’m taking some of my prerequisite courses this semester, will this delay my admission decision until June? I really need to know earlier so that I can figure out my housing situation for next year.

Good luck to you all!

Hi Elizabeth,

I’m in the same situation. I asked the admission counselor about this. He said there would be two cases that can happen:

1) Accept pending If they can admit you based on my Fall grades. I would still have access to pay the deposit and register for FASET. I don’t know about the housing.

2) They would have to wait and see your Spring grades if you’re taking some of the prerequisites. I heard they’re pretty strict about prerequisites, so this case will be most likely for us.

I’m freshman too.

Hi Elizabeth,

To my understanding, yes, we will have to wait until June to know our final decision. I’m taking one of my pre-reqs now also (Calc 2), and I assume they need to find out whether or not you pass it to know whether or no they can accept you. Our semester also ends like a few days before the May 15th decision, so we will probably have to wait until June 15th. We will most likely have to register for Fall classes at UGA and then drop them if we get into Tech.

I do wonder, however, if there is some kind of conditional acceptance. It would be awesome for Tech to tell me in March: “Make this grade in Calc II and you’re in”.

Good luck! How many hours will you be transferring with?

David, can you elaborate on the first case a little more? I don’t quite understand it.

This is what one of the admission counselors at Georgia Tech told me:

"When you all for the Fall term, you will send an initial official transcript that has your grades through the end of the current Fall 2013 term. In some cases, we are able to make a pending admission decision at that time. Otherwise, we may need to wait for your updated transcript with final grades from the Spring 2014 term. "

Also, since I’m in a special transfer program, my case may be different from yours.

Best luck for all of us.

Hey guys! I just got this email from my transfer counselor on the subject:

“We do not fully review or admit applicants until they have all requirements completed. Applicants working on requirements during the Spring semester for Fall 2014 will more than likely learn of their admission decision in the final two rounds. Please note that we are extremely conservative with admitting students in the first two rounds. These students usually have completed all requirements as well as a few (if not all) recommended courses, they have around 60 credit hours or more, and have maintained close to a 4.00 GPA in both overall and math/science courses.”

More than likely, I assume we will know later than the first two admission dates.

I’m transferring with 30 in-class hours (not including the 10 hours from AP exams that are covering my prerequisites and around 15 other hours from my other AP exams).

Hi guys, I have a question. I submitted the application and GT has already received my transcript. However, none of the courses appear on the credit transfer section. I wonder if the same thing happens to you too and we would just have to wait. Can you guys please check yours and let me know? :(

Daivin,

I submitted my application last monday, and sent my transcript on Tuesday. Tech has not yet received it, but I will let you know when they do.

Thanks LDC.!!

Hi all
I am from ISU, Iowa state university, I have a 3.8 cumGPA and 3.9 math/science GPA. I will apply for Aerospace engineering. I am taking English composition II at another college where is pretty close to ISU to satisfy all the requirement, I will have 63 credits done after this semester.

I haven’t submit my application yet. I am working over the essay.

Daivan,

Where is the transfer credit section? Is it like a tab at the top? They still haven’t received my transcript, it still has a red X next to it in the application quick view.

LDC,

Log in → Application Details → Click on Admission → then Click on Transfer Credit…Let me know when you see something…

Best,

Daivin,

They still have not received my transcript (there is a little red x by it on the application quick view). I did find where I need to look though when they do receive it.
