Who knows…
Congrats!!!
Mind if we ask your stats?
Which school did you apply to? Stats? Major? @igottatransfer
CAS, Econ Major. Current sophmore
GPA: 3.96. 61 credit hours completed, 21 in progress. All A’s on midterm report.
ACT: 33
HS GPA: 3.42. Much higher for junior/senior year, probably around a 3.9.
Low on college ECs, got really sick a bunch of times last year and had to decide between GPA or having fun, choose GPA.
Have plenty of volunteer stuff. Search and Rescue Pilot, Boy Scout leader, running airshows.
Rec Letters: 9/10
Very good. Stronger stats than I have tbh.
There’s more to a person than stats. Good luck!
Congrats. When did you get your decision ?@igottatransfer
Oh no, I haven’t received a decision yet. I was asking the other person their stats.
I am calling in a couple of hours. Deadline for housing for transfers is today. I am concerned.
I called and they said the admissions are rolling at anytime.
@HSCTiger2021 did they call you, email, or snail mail?
@nbjohnson1999 I just want to know a date…Wish they could tell me before I have to respond to another school
I called CAS. They told me we will not hear announcements until the middle of December. Additionally, it should not impact our housing situation. @igottatransfer @nbjohnson1999
I’m an applicant for the Spring semester and I’m getting nervous. I applied to UVA, my second choice, and got in. However, I need to make a decision before December 15th and it looks like Cornell is going really slow in regards to the process.
I have a 4.0 GPA, 63 credits (51 completed, 12 in progress), all A’s on midterm reports, good ECs (Blockchain internship, created my own website with over 200 writers, have 300K twitter followers on accounts, real estate internship at big company during HS, etc…), decent to good essay, good rec…Around 3.8-3.9 HS GPA/4.
My blemish is that I didn’t submit my SAT scores (I got in mid/low 1200’s/1600, so thought it’d be a blemish). Kind of concerned that they’ll look at that as fishy.
You seem like a strong candidate number wise. What school did you apply to?
College of Arts and Science- Economics Major
As a fellow Econ major applicant I think we are likely least wanted in the applicant pool for transfer admission. Ivy League universities, specifically Cornell, are over flowed with Econ majors. I would think the more atypical majors applying to CAS would pose a stronger chance of admission. That’s just my (un)professional opinion though.
@IvyBound511 I may sound hopeful here, but I’d think Cornell’s econ major is less overflowed than other schools because of the presence of Dyson. I think Penn and Cornell are the only Ivy’s that offer business majors and in other schools, economics is overflowed as they’re heavily mixed with varying career paths
Interestingly enough, Economics is actually the most popular major in 6/8 Ivy’s, and is 2nd in UPenn. In Cornell, it’s not even top 3.
Thats very enlightening information and makes me a bit more hopeful @JeffreyPo
By the way here are my stats
Current Institution: University that’s not even top 200
GPA: 3.9/4.0
Major: Econ
sat: 2100/2400
Extracurriculars: Pretty good. Lots of leadership positions and evidence of community involvement. Got a competitive internship at the #1 investment bank (maybe #2 depending on who you ask)
Recommendations: Only got 1 recommendation from my econ professor who has known me for a while and really knows my passion for economics. I put all my eggs in one basket so I’m hoping he wrote something good!
All A’s on midterm report except for 1 A-
