Spring Scheduling

How many units is everyone planning on taking in the spring?

I have only one more requirement, biology, so I'm taking that as well as intro to business and precalculus. That's only 11 semester units though.

Wondering if only taking three classes would be looked down on.. ?

Anyone else?

I’m also beating myself up over whether or not to take precalculus… Its been years since my last algebra class and I never took trigonometry so its a huge risk to my GPA… the only reason I need it is because calculus is required for the economics minor at UC Davis on the off chance I go there…

on my TAG I put I would be only taking 6 units…I’m beginning to over think and hope it doesn’t hurt my chances being accepted.

I only put one 4 unit class too. I was told by a UC Davis advisor that they don’t want people taking classes at other universities and that’s generally the the only reason they would reject a TAG for part-time enrollment. She told me I was fine so you’re good too.

this is a relief! thx

I put down only 12 units for my TAG, but because of scheduling conflicts between two classes and my deciding to apply just to ucm and ucsc and also take the class I need for cc graduation in the spring, I took out one class and added two.

So tentative schedule is this, although I’m fairly sure I’ll get them all because of priority registration.

Intro to Neuroscience (3)
Calculus for Business and Social Sciences (3)
Intro to Programming (3)
Philosophy (3)
Writing Short Fiction (3)

15 units!

@draco pretty awesome that your CC has an intro to neuroscience course

Do other cc’s not have it?

Maybe it is pretty awesome haha.

So, then, is it acceptable to take a part-time course load (< 12 units) in the Spring preceding our transfer? I’m considering doubling up on 3-unit classes this Winter, like I did in the Summer, so that I only need 11 units in the Spring – makes for a laid back last semester, no?

Either way, the few classes I have left to complete are:

(1) History of Modern and Contemporary Philosophy
(2) Intro to Geology (just the lab portion)
(3) Anthro 1

and, a few non-required classes I’m planning to take:

(1) Fundamentals of Drawing (or something like that)
(2) Shakespeare’s Comedies and Histories
(3) English Literature to Milton
(4) Intro to Library Science

@malfoy: Seems like you are at Moorpark, perhaps the only CC that has an intro to neuroscience course :D

@briceies

depends on where you TAG. I would call admissions and get their input.

@Sparky, apparently it’s not the only CC that has it! Haha

I’m thinking about taking 3-4 to see if I can comfortably graduate a quarter earlier, which apparently is pretty easy to do anyway. But I might just take it easy with 2 classes.

As for it mattering… If you’re in junior status (60 units) by the time you transfer, why would it matter? There are people here who took the semester off entirely prior to transferring because they had their 60 units. You still have to mention it, but it doesn’t affect you.

I think this paranoia comes from our own misconception that they treat us the same way they treat the freshmen applicants. They’re the ones that have to show that they’re organized in every possible way b/c they’re in universities for 4 years. If you’re a transfer student, it’s likely you work, have other **** to worry about, take some evening courses perhaps, etc. They want school to be your priority once you’re there, but it seems to me that you’ve already done stuff evidencing characteristics that they want in their students i.e. they want you in and out in 2 years.

So it doesn’t matter.

Grades/prereqs = God.
