Hi Everyone
I was bumped to fall and I am now looking at the housing application. For New, what are the differences between the College Residence hall and and the Elizabeth Von KleinSmid Memorial Hall- I'm looking into doubles w/and w/o sinks.
For North, what are the differences between the Harris and University Residence Halls?
Thank you!

Essentially, they’re all exactly the same. New/north is literally the same building. The building is in an H shape, with one half being New and the other North. The other names don’t matter either. List them all as your options, but be prepared for the possibility that you probably won’t get a spot there this late in the game.

Before you spend a lot of time on this decision, I recommend calling the housing office to check on what the most realistic choices are. At this time last year, there was no way for a bumped-up spring admit to get into New/North or Birnkrant. Once you know what space is available, take it from there and don’t waste your top choices on places you won’t get in.

college and e vonkleinsmid(evk) are different actually. while lakers11 is correct that it’s all one attached building, there are two different types of rooms in new/north (and they’re not divided by new and north either, confusing i know). evk and harris are the rooms with sinks (i had one, its great, the rooms are much bigger with them) and college and university are the rooms without.
evk = new w/ sink
harris = north w/ sink
not sure which college or university is new or north

evk is the most central wing of new north since it’s closest to mccarthy quad, evk, and right above the csc

the north side w/o sinks is the furthest away from mccarthy and the rest of campus (but you can get to any wing from any door into the building, although some wings are harder to get to just because of the very strange layout of the building, esp on 1st floor)

in my opinion, my choices would be
evk, harris, then new w/o sink and north w/o sink

(new is the side on mccarthy way and north is the side on 34th street)

but fauxnom is very correct in that new north and birnkrant (northside) are probably full at this point unless someone’s dropped out
in all likelihood you’ll end up on southside (trojan/marks etc) or parkside, but see if they have any openings on northside because that’s the best place to be on campus!

good luck!

FYI though, the EVK side of New constantly smelled like EVK. Not a pleasant smell.
