High school: 3.6 GPA 1310 old SAT
One semester at JMU w/ a 3.94 GPA (one A-)
One year working as an artist and one semester studying art in Italy
Taking classes at Community college this summer and fall hoping to maintain a 4.0 GPA (might end up a 3.8-3.9)
I want to transfer to UVA as a second semeter sophomore spring 2007 w/ 45 or so credit hours
I'm a VA resident
I've heard the spring acceptance rate is horrible. Do you think that I have a shot?

You're chances are pretty slim, not because you have bad stats but simply because it is nearly impossible to transfer during the spring semester. If you were to wait and aply for the fall, you'd have an excellent shot.

Yeah, I think UVA only accepts a few dozen applicants or less during the spring. I'm not sure if you can try to apply for spring and then try to apply for fall if you're rejected.

thanks for the input
wow.....is it really that slim? So basically I shouldn't even try?
I really have to transfer in the spring.
Can you suggest any alternative schools for spring transfers w/ my stats?

well.....I don't "have" to but I really do want to.
I feel that I'm wasting my time at community college. Just picking up credits and not learning
much. Im also more than ready to leave home. Actually, after this fall Ill have just 4 classes
left before I can get my associates. Is it completely insane to consider transferring in the
spring?

I asked the same question a little while ago and the admissions office told me that you can apply again for the fall if you are rejected in the spring. So why not? But dont take my word for it, make sure you ask.

It isn't "completely insane" to try to transfer for the spring, however your chances are practically zero. If you can reapply for the fall then why not apply if it is important to you?
